Jeff's first love was music, he lived it, breathed it, it was his soul if you will. When he played it wasnt from reading sheet music but by ear, feel and heart. He was a fun guy as well, had occasion to be around to have some conversation in early 80's, weekend festival and a few times at the infamous El McCombo,Toronto, now gone as well. Also one other time at a friends camp on Georgian Bay. That was a camp fire guitar playing weekend and one I wont ever forget. There is discussion about Hendrix and Healey comparison so know this. Hendrix brought a style of guitar to rock and roll and blues that all guitarists of that genre aspire to including Jeff Healey. Jimmy Hendrix pioneered, a trail blazer if you will and is known world wide as a master instrumentalist. He left the U.S. and made it big, left us with some incredible music and was an inspiration to guitarists as fine as Jeff Healey. There is nothing to argue about people, the guitarists themselves will or have attested to it. I guess no different than saying Chuck Berry was not instrumental in rock and roll in that genre. They are the kindegarden teachers to these amazing players who wanted to play just as well as their idol, whom ever it may have been, in Healys case it was Hendrix until he developed a style all of his own. Thank goodness for the pioneers as we may not have all of this incredible kick ass playing to listen to now....To argue comparison of these monster guitarists is like slapping all rock and blues progression in the chops, as if one knows music /arts one knows that every artist needs an inspiration.
