During our visit to Jeong Mongju's tomb, we honored his memory and paid tribute to his legacy. His untimely death at the hands of Prince Bangwon, who would later become King Taejong, serves as a powerful reminder of the falsehoods perpetuated by Japanese historiography in Korea. Jeong Mongju's commitment to Confucian values of loyalty and devotion to his country have made him an essential figure in Korean history, and his story continues to inspire generations of Koreans. Standing before his monument, we were reminded of the enduring strength and resilience of the Korean people in the face of adversity. Jeong’s sons, grandsons, and great-grandsons and many descendants served in the Joseon government that Jeong died opposing. We honored him by reciting his famous sijo standing in front of the tomb.
