I love it when success breeds more success because the successful man is not fearfull of competition. Rather he invites it for the advancement of mankind. You are amazing in that way. I for one am very Thankful! Happy belated Fathers Day, your Son is fortunate to have such a role model. God Bless. RT

Jerry, BIG FAN of the channel... Awesome Jerry Rigged DIY... While many like CFL's, I am not a fan at all... I think the light produced is like being in an office building... it's very tiring on the eyes. Normal incandescent bulbs produce light at around 2700k and the wavelength they produce is more calming on the eyes. The lights you are using are 5500k which is a stark bright white light. For those still researching alternatives to incandescent bulbs... it's MUCH more than Watts. So specifically with LED and CFL bulbs pay attention to the K number... that is the color warmth that the bulb produces. If you want that soft glow of an incandescent, stay around 2700k and you will get a much better experience. That said, I know studio lighting is a bit different but you can get to a point that you white wash out with too bright of a color depth (k) of a bulb. Not to be confused with Lumens which is how much light throw the bulb will produce and your human eye can discern. The average incandescent bulb (60w, 2700k) produces around 840 Lumens... so if you use that as a benchmark you can shop more educated on these new bulb options. My favorite LED bulb so far is the CREE. Very inexpensive and produces a light very comparable to an incandescent. But be careful with any CFL or LED. Not all are made to be completely enclosed... so shop accordingly and do your research. Best of luck... stop on over to my channel to see more geeky content too... Here's my fav Cree that I use. www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00BYG7O8A/ref=as_li_tl?ie=UTF8&camp=1789&creative=390957&creativeASIN=B00BYG7O8A&linkCode=as2&tag=iw09-20

You should make a video giving your impressions on Star Citizen, its the perfect game for you to play with your wall of screens and all of your sim gear. And also maybe on Elite: Dangerous. I'd love to hear your thoughts comparing the two, but mainly Star Citizen :) Its running on CryEngine and is in pre alpha atm.

Barnacles Nerdgasm , In addition to ON-OFF CFL cycling, as CFL bulbs are tilted, their lifespan diminishes greatly after a 45 degree inverted angle although some of my exterior vertical-inverted lighting has all been maxed out in rotation to the horizontal as a better stop-gap measure. At worst, I've found much of the lifespan can be retained with no greater than an inverted 45 degree angle but if a bulb can't be up right I try to keep them no worse than horizontal. I suppose a fan could be used to circulate air past the bulbs if they have to be steeply inverted. 👍 great jerryriggin hashtag

Hey Jerry, quick question, why use an aperture of f/10? You know if you bump the f-stop lower to like f/2.8, you get a really nice depth of field. ;) great video though, you should sometime look into using 3point lighting (key, filler, hair) and try to get out of auto exposure and put that 5d to its full potential. :) thanks again for the video, you always crack me up while still getting to the point, and I plan to use that 4 way light splitter with my current 3 clamp lights :D (12 bulbs at once! Holy crap, R.I.P. room temperature and vision...)

(also your videos) BTW I just subbed to you and I saw your man cave video and I wish I had your setup! :P (Although mine would be a woman cave) But anyway, you inspired me to work hard and maybe someday I can turn into the awesome person that you are!

Barnacules Nerdgasm The evolution of led light bulbs have been drastic ever since they were invented and could actually be better for video work and costs a lot less to run since they use 10 watts for a 60w equivalent and they can last as long as 10 - 15 years. So if you don't switch your nerdcave to led then consider the savings of having the rest of the house switched to led.

Holy hell, I'd hate to see your electricity bill. By any chance, do the street lights in your neighborhood dim every time you vlog? P.S. You can probably do away with at least 4 of the CFL bulbs in your cave and get nearly the same level of illumination where it counts (you and your desk). Also, never underestimate the power of bounce panels/cards (or white bed sheets, white construction paper, etc.) strategically placed behind the camera and other areas out of the camera's viewing angle. Easy to hang, easy to move/modify/shape and easy to stow away when done. Cheers
