I generally am not a big fan of theatrics ... but, damn, I have to love what was clearly genuine enthusiasm from Winker and his teammates. It lifted my spirits as a Mets fan. Good job Jesse!

Great announcer. I think the Orioles owner suspended him last season for being too critical of the team😂 so you know he's doing a good job

Mets needed this and now on to san Diego and Arizona for the biggest Road Trip of this season it right there to take the last spot from Atlanta.
@dashx1103

Putting on my "objectivity hat" ... I really think the Mets hopes might die on this road trip. And that has so much to do with failing to make up more ground against bad teams previously. Sitting at 5 over .500, just treading water by splitting series moving forward is not going to get them into the post-season. And it is hard for me, largely based on pitching matchups, to believe the Mets will do much better than splitting at SD (and truthfully losing 3 out of 4 seems the most likely). If that happens, it is a dagger in the heart. I know that I tend to be pessimistic at times, but I don't feel great about this team heading into SD and Arizona. I completely hope I am wrong. If the Mets can win two series -- one at SD (3/4) and then Arizona (2/3) ... everything flips and I will be 100% on board for making the playoff. But that is such a tall order, especially how the Padres are playing and pitching. LFGM ... always! But this stretch is scary.

@@dashx1103this road trip is the season for us. But since June 1st the Mets have the 4th best record in baseball and I think they have one more hot streak in them. I would like to say we have a 7-3 road trip but I’ll take 6-4
@dashx1103

@@budthewiser7294 I sure hope you are right. And, yes, I think 6-4 likely keeps the door open. If they go 1-3 at San Diego, though, .. gulp. Big, big series coming up.

Both teams are running on parallel tracks. They’re both just coming off frugal ownerships into ownerships with plenty of money (and the desire to spend it), young farm systems built up to last a while, and a fan base chomping at the bit to see it all unfold.
@jimwerther

Total myth. The Wilpons always were near the top of the league in expenditures; the problem was bad decision making. Same during Cohen's first few years. Now this team finally has a GM who knows what he is doing.
@MatthewSmith-cv7op

Doubleday liked to spend. The Wilpon’s had their years, but it wasn’t much. After 2008 the spending diminished considerably. Every team gets off the mat slowly. Save for the Rays, who made it to the World Series under their first year under Sternberg as owner. Even so, it took time for them to really establish themselves as the Rays, and that the Devil is gone.

@@MatthewSmith-cv7op After 2008, the Wilpons had less money. Bernie Madoff was exposed and real estate crashed simultaneously, leading to their having to sell the team.
