Jhol Momo Ingredients: Base puree SOYBEAN 2 TBSP WHITE SESAME SEEDA 2 TBSP PEANUTS ¼ CUP OIL 2 TBSP CUMIN SEEDS 1 TSP SICHUAN PEPPERCORNS 10 NOS. GARLIC 12 CLOVES. GINGER 3 INCH GREEN CHILLI 3 NOS. RED CHILLI 2 NOS. ONION 1 NO. (SLICED) TURMERIC POWDER ¼ TSP TOMATO 3 NOS. (ROUGHLY CHOPPED) CORIANDER STEM | धनिए के डंठल A HANDFUL SALT TO TASTE HOT WATER AS REQUIRED FRESH CORIANDER A SMALL HANDFUL For Jhol Achar (sauce) WATER AS REQUIRED FRESH CORIANDER A HANDFUL (CHOPPED) LEMON JUICE OF 1 LEMON For Jhol Soup WATER AS REQUIRED SUGAR A LARGE PINCH Method: Set a pan over high flame, let it get hot & then lower the flame. Add the soybeans, peanuts, sesame seeds & toast them over low flame until they turn slightly light brown then transfer them to a bowl &set it aside to cool down. Set a deep pan over high flame & add oil once it gets hot, let the oil heat up as well. Add cumin seeds, Sichuan peppercorns, garlic, ginger, green chilli & red chilli, stir well & add the sliced onions, cook over high flame until the onions turn soft & translucent. Lower the flame & add turmeric powder, stir well & add the tomatoes along with coriander stem & salt, stir well & cook the tomatoes over high flame for 3-4 minutes then add hot water as required stir well, cover & cook until the tomatoes turn soft & mushy. Switch off the flame & let the mixture cool down. Add the tomato mixture into a mixer grinder jar along with the toasted ingredients & grind it into a fine puree using water as required. Transfer the puree into a deep pan & add more water to adjust the consistency along with fresh chopped coriander & stir well. Taste the jhol achar (sauce) at this stage & adjust seasoning, also add lemon juice & stir well Your jhol achar is ready at this stage you can serve it at room temperature with your choice of momos. To make jhol soup turn on the gas flame to high & add more water along with the sugar, stir & bring the soup to a boil. Once the soup comes to a boil, taste & adjust seasoning if required. Your delicious jhol momo soup is ready, serve with hot along with hot steamed momos of your choice.

@indirapoudel7151 Someone other than me, remembers that it's called मः मः. It's a nostalgic term for me, as I can clearly picturize it written on the walls of some food outlets like " यहाँ मः मः पाइन्छ। ". And then I see people saying things like, "Finally, someone said it's momo, not momos."

I am Nepali and first of all u said momo only which i loved it instead of momos.. n the ingredients used are authentic nepali without any modification of spicies. Your rice is very common there I have been staying in Sikkim for for almost 15 to 16 years of my life and there you will find a lot of Nepali people in Sikkim NDS the staple food is rice they eat chapati to and this one dish that they have which is called dhidho and the food is very kind of similar to that of our dishes @@SRJ7798

As someone who has lived in different parts of India, Kolkata does have some decent momo and some places serve really amazing nepalese cuisine too. I had tried jhol momo from couple of places and let me tell you, you guys are missing out! I wish it was popular in Delhi because Delhi winters deserves this hug of a dish!

It’s the same in Nepali. It means broth. In Nepali it’s “macha ko jhol”, “masu ko jhol”. Eta jodi Bangali dish o hoto, tau it would have been called a jhol-momo perhaps. But momor jhol toh bola jabe na as it’s separately made.
