I actually agree with him entirely. I spent roughly 10 years watching wrestling along with reading spoilers and other peoples' opinions about matches and shit, and it kinda sucked the fun out of the show for me. For one, I wasn't surprised when something happened, because I knew ahead of time. And even after I turned off the TV or left the arena thinking "Not too bad" and then read some whiny shitstain who think he's Dave Meltzer's opinion of it, suddenly, I could only see the things they were looking for, which was everything wrong with the show, rather than everything right with it. But since I've stopped following dirt sheets and all that, I've come to actually enjoy the show again. I don't know the spoilers, and I don't see or care about someone else's opinion very often. And I like it that way. Because I've noticed something about all these internet marks that think they're smart to the business: They're never happy. I realized this when the WWE put the World title on Jinder Mahal. According to the smarks, that should've been a glorious moment. The very "breath of fresh air" that they kept whining about needing. They pushed a fresh talent. But no. Somehow, now the problem was "They're pushing a guy who isn't ready! It's not organic! He's unproven and doesn't deserve it!" You just can't fucking win with these losers. So I stopped caring what they say and think, and damn does it feel good to be a wrestling fan again.
@rh_BOSS

Apparently, it is a rather well known psychological effect. If you have a hobby, you shouldn't get too deep into all the minutiae of it, otherwise it'll suck all the fun out of it. Over the years, I've developed a rule of thumb on how to go about these things. Let's say you're into fishing. The moment you notice that you're spending less time actually fishing than discussing pros and cons of different fishing rods, baits, lures, and fishing apparel online, you need to dial it down a notch.

It's crazy to hear Cornette's words from an interview in 2003 that reign to be dead true to this day. I hate how kayfabe is dead. I really do. I’m not mad at people being able to find ways into the business , but I hate how people say “aw it’s fake , it’s easy” , no the fuck it is not. People always think they’re Ted Turner or Vince McMahon or Dixie Carter , if you don’t own a wrestling promotion , fucking relax. I just enjoy watching wrestling honestly. We’re all fans , but some of these people who look too deep into it kinda ruin it. Like finding out (way after the fact myself) that Mr. Kennedy was supposed to be Mr. McMahon’s son but too many people found out so they changed it to Hornswoggle REALLY pissed me the fuck off. Even my dad , who is not really a wrestling fan , sometimes watches with me and can suspend his disbelief and just watch what’s on the screen. Like. Sometimes , breaking that 4th wall is kinda cool sometimes , like when AJ called Undertaker Mark , like I don’t want it to go back to Ultimate Warrior/Macho Man/Hulk Hogan-era kayfabe , but man , in 2022 it’s just kinda boring. We even ruined Bray’s return by figuring it out and telling everyone , I actually think WWE did a good job keeping it interesting with the QR codes.

I’ve always loved Cornette but it’s funny looking back at this clip now and then looking at how he makes his money now. The people who he describes at 5:35 are actually the target audience of his podcast in 2022. Which is incredibly sad to see.

Big guys, small guys, hardcore wrestling, too much high flying, short storylines, long storylines. You name it, Jim Cornette hates everything.

Cornette really hates Bassman! But from what I know, most of the business’s opinion of Bassman is pretty negative.

It's Gabe Sapolsky doing the interview. He was also the early booker and PBP man for Ring of Honour. This was before Feinstein was outed as a pedophile, and ROH and Gabe split.

Conrad was just another dumb mark back then (well, actually he still is). But he didn't have Ric Flair's jock to sniff back then.

Ilja vs Walter. Started strong, intense, kept going strong, intesne, still went on string and intense. I could't care less half way, seeing most intense chops and big sells... Contrast is a gift. Big sell after a big move, where every move is big and every sell is big is regular size. In the end if everything is regular, it just might end up being boring. Of course the match gets praised, strange how such a pro wrestling eating, breathing, shiting, living guy even while trying to get into the math himself. Just didn't enjoyed it at all. Spot fest, might have something to do with me not watching the entire build up. Pacing is there to show us which move is big, it gives a story why it's big. The pay off also matter. Why I can't find anyone who agree with me on this Simple af pro wrestling booking. It's not rocket science, Jim said it here too. Ilja vs Walter match should have been same but cut 80% shorter, or just had a regular logicall pace of big moves coming at built up momments with pay off after each bigger momment. Instead of being some masochist wet dream. Even the hot crowd was there just to show support to great workers and not the match itself. Because it was, compared to talent in it, a total shit

This interview happened around 2003-04 so this was years before any of the shit we got going now happened and COVID wasn't even a thing.
