I think a few other comments sum up how a lot of people feel for sure. It’s cliche to say but JJK feels like untapped potential. Gege created a very good setting with distinct emotion while clearly being natural progression from the previous eras of shounen battle genre by borrowing certain elements while still having the potential of adding new things to explore we hadn’t seen, or at least telling a story that was concise, fresh, and satisfying. However, as was pointed out in this video and other comments, so many things were given an idea then (in classic shounen style) and then never re addressed. that cycle happening over and over just left things so empty handed me ackkng and it’s a shame to see it go down like that. Kenjaku’s role the last two major fight he had could’ve been extended much longerwith so many ways to explore new combat ideas. different groups of characters interacting and developing and finding ways to raise the stakes more to make for a more climactic ending. However I still really love the kenjaku Takaba fight. I think it does a great job at highlighting the uniqueness creativity and things Gege did well with the series. I could write a whole essay on that fight alone on how I’d consider it an all time fight in shounen history. But it would’ve felt even sweeter if it came after longer more traditional fights with Kenjaku ( a great conduit to really explore the depths of Jujutsu) and seeing his contingency plan actually going through while still maintaining the same ending to that fight we got. All in all I still think this series is pretty good-very good 7.5/10. When the fights were on point they were fire, amazing characters and personality honestly. Good artwork, solid battle system, very good emotional peaks at certain point and honestly I still like JJK more than any of the other modern shounen out rn. I think the manga could’ve used like 30 more chapters but with an entirely different approach post gojo vs sukuna and a lot could’ve been solved. I’m just glad we still have the anime to look forward to though. If they keep it up I think it can potentially make up a lot of lost ground.

6/10 for me. Foreign military, kidnapped sorcerers, Takaba’s conveniently censored friend who is totally not Kenjaku, Tengen’s barriers, cursed energy solution. Literally none of this gets addressed other than Gakuganji going “yeah they’ll solve it offscreen chill bro”. Kenjaku’s treatment is what makes it a 6 instead of a 7 for me. He was the villain that moved the plot forward. With his death, every interesting part of JJK died as well. Pre Shibuya and Shibuya hard carries this manga tbh.

haven't watched the series (only seen an episode or two through my siblings). could an ending really be so bad that it ruins the entire show? i swear jjk got non-stop praise until the ending got released

@@adrianmarion4625 it’s not a terrible ending but it’s an ending that doesn’t answer majority of the questions that were asked in the manga itself. Since you don’t know specifics I’ll keep it vague. Imo the story doesn’t answer any major Questions that deal with the story, doesn’t answer any questions that come from the result of the final battle/arc, doesn’t really do a great job at world building or flushing out the world I should say, and the story happens but there is no definitive change in society. It’s still the same old universe but the actually story that happened doesn’t impact the rest of the universe. The story leaves a lot vague which is good while the manga is being written but in the finally I think there should be definite answers to most things posed in the story. A couple plot points were not expanded on and just left to your imagination. A major villain got defeated in a very anticlimactic way and it halted the progression of the story imo.I hope this kind of makes sense, without you knowing the specifics it’s kind of hard to explain my thoughts.

For me it was more than just the ending itself. The last 40 or so chapters felt like fluff, nobody really got a chance to shine for more than a chapter besides the MC which was disappointing for me. 222-236 was really fun but after that point I was only keeping up with the manga because I was already invested into it

@@zach8107 I agree with you. I would bring up my concerns or questions with the writing and everyone kept saying “let Gege cook” but that’s not how stories are told. Each action should lead to the next and things happened simply because the plot needed them to happen. Like we still never got a reason of why Gojo never disregarded Geto’s body properly. This one plot point changed the entire trajectory of the universe and it was never explained. We still don’t even know what the “proper” way to dispose of a sorcerer is. We don’t even know what happened to the other sukuna fingers that he threw up in Yuji’s domain.

@khalilwilson2586 yeah due to what you're talking about i expected the community to Mass hypnotize themselves into thinking the ending was peak, but I'm glad to see people be realistic about how it's pretty Meh. I would even say below average, i just don't know why Gege rushed the end of his manga to work on a damn Idol manga of all things. This series had so much more potential than Gege was willing to explore for some reason

There is no statement ever that Z was supposed to end at cell, Toriyama wanted to try and explore gohan as MC but felt he wasn’t fit for the role hence Goku coming back in the buu saga and where Toriyama then felt he needed to end the series initially
@SGalaxyify

@@christianz.25 I agree. I just think he put nice little bows on the end of every arc in case it needed to end there without it being unfinished. And gohan was the main character for a while but yeah Goku ended up retaking that role later on.

Pfft gojo not being appreciated for saving his students/cast @$$ a lot makes me sick tbh. so there should of been at least a little crying from his students like when yuji seemed upset when gojo wanted him to forget him if he died. But i agree gojo should of been treated better surely when he brought the most hype/money to the manga like sukuna did.

IMO, JJK was hard-carried by memes and hype. It was good, certainly not bad - but when the hype and memes washed away, I don't think it's a surprise that most people are left with a bad taste in their mouth. JJK was carried by fights as well, which were usually pretty GOATed, but the other aspects of a Shonen anime just weren't executed to a high enough level of skill for me.
