C. Franck: Prélude, choral et fugue for piano
Abstract:
In this class excerpt, Joaquín Achúcarro focuses on several passages from the Chorale and the Prelude. To begin with, the arpeggiated Choral chords can be more easily performed if we position the body slightly to the right of the keyboard. It is good to practice them only with the left hand and as fast as possible to anticipate the note before playing it. The use of the pedal in the Prelude has to be cleaner. In the lyrical parts of the Prelude, the right hand must have more presence than the left. Achúcarro proposes an almost vertical attack of the note to highlight the melody, pointing towards the interior of the piano.
