Tyson was in his prime at age 12 littely early peak. Youngest champ at 20 but could have been at 18. And young tyson unfortantly was his own enemy . By the time he got to buster he no longer trained was up the night before banging hookers, and snorting cocaine. A young Mike had custo on his side and discipline. Even his footwork was superb. He had none of that after. He looked like a shell of himself. It's no excuse he still lost but it would have been different if he didn't leave all his training at the door and get full of himself. Even with all that buster should have been counted out on a 14 second long count early in the fight. Would it have mattered No because Mike still would have lost anyway he wasn't committed as he should have been. I've seen every fight Mike fought in and nobody could take a 18 19 20 21 + prime Mike punch and not go down. His body shots were knock outs. I watched 20 punches get thrown at him in one sequence were he got so low he was about 3 feet from the ground he ducked all 20 shots then threw 1 punch and it was over. That skill was gone once he left custo and his former completely changed....

I don't recall who said, "Mediocrity knows nothing higher than itself, but talent recognizes genius," an idea that we now understand as the Dunning-Kruger Effect, but it may be the crowning paradox -- and often tragedy -- of our species, in which mediocrity is the rule and stereotypes the consequence. Of course, Tyson himself is a genius of his sport, but that only makes his eyes clearer of foolish prejudice and his thinking more objective.

Larry holmes has said he loves mike as a person but don't let that fool you from thinking he won't speak his truth. One thing I've always respected about holmes is he speaks his truth and sticks to his guns. I think mike tyson is great but what larry thinks I believe he truly feels. Larry was always a skillful, slick boxer who'd move really well round the ring, an would show true heart against adversity. Mike is like the opposite of this which is why I think Larry has these views. Tyson is a brute, who'd come marching forward, an if he was in a tough fight, he'd usually give up or try to find a quick way out. luckily was gifted with power in both his hands as a small hw and made history. They're both great in my book. Its a shame we never got a prime Larry vs prime Mike, that's a dream match up.
