The Boss could stand up in his suit and say "Alright boys, time to head out" and the men would do nothing. That's when the Leader steps in and says "let's go" to get the guys moving. Because that leader also leads them into whatever task or battle they have. A real leader is the first one in and last one out. Yeah, a boss makes the big bucks. Michael Willow You’d be surprised to find that most major companies WANT the mini hitlers running their business... bossing everybody around like that doesn’t take much effort, however, it takes going against policy and even the LAW at times. That’s why the top dogs in corporate or regional hire these worms to do their dirty work, risking their jobs and licenses for about 1/10th of the salary their superior takes home. In turn, allowing the company to take the whip to their employees while only risking that ONE managers employment if anything goes wrong. They’re basically corporate “fall guys” “Oh, sorry, our mistake for hiring an asshole, we had no idea. We will fire him immediately, problem fixed now, we promise”

I’ve personally seen a manager get their head smashed against the aisle racking of a department store by their associate before, and heard many stories from my last job. The specific store I worked at had a night operations manager get get shot in the head while driving out of the parking lot like a year before I started there as well. Construction is a hard buisness to make it in. The key is to separate work and personal life. Make no quick friends and work the hardest without checking to see if you are, if that makes sense. Also, always out work the Mexicans and Hondurans. Learn every product from it's molecular structure to it's life length. Simply make it your life. No Alcohol or drugs either. Pot is a must tho.

@@dbt2207 Meh, exact opposite for me. Went to college, ended up becoming a scientist(Bio). Working in big pharma, and getting treated like shit due to mangers and etc. Company laid off 25 people because poor management. People getting promoted for kissing ass, while people pick up their slack. I guess what I'm getting at is college isn't the end all be all from escaping the cancer. You're most likely going to be dealing with the same bullshit, only difference is you'll have an HR that will back up management no matter how retarded their line of thinking is. I figured I'll go to trade school, do trade for a couple of years, make my money, and invest. I would stick with my field, I love science, specially what I do for a living which is cancer gene therapy using lentil applications. But HOLY FUCK, the job market sucks ass. applying for jobs, shitty indian recruiters, recruiters having you apply for jobs that's not even in your fucking description. The low balling sometimes with pay. Have 5 years of experience and this one recruiter wanted to pay me 23 an hour for a job that would require me to move and use my own funds for a 6 months contract, and was like "this is a good company, I think it's worth it." I had a boss that was addicted to vicodin and would take adderall occasionally too. One day he could not find his keys. He was so mad he was red in the face, yelling at everyone. "I know you took my keys! Who was it?! Where are my keys???!!!" etc. He had to go to the store or something, (thinking back he probably actually just needed to get his drugs from his car.). Anyway, he keeps going around yelling all beat red in the face. He was a redheaded fat man, so I mean red like a cherry. Then finally, he checks his back pocket and finds his keys. Me and my friend are standing there, we are like "wtf, he had them the whole time and was blaming us". We thought for sure he was gonna realize he'd been a dick. Instead he goes "WHO PUT MY KEYS IN MY POCKET?! WAS IT YOU!?" and he kept going around in a circle yelling at everyone. That was the day we realized he had lost it. It became an inside joke with us for a long time, whenever one of us misplaced our keys we'd say "who took my keys?!" haha. We liked to party and stuff but from that moment on we knew we never wanted to get that bad into drugs. Sad thing is my friend eventually died from an opiate overdose. I found him in the morning rolled off the bed we were passed out on after a night of partying. I'll never forget the way the water splashed off his lifeless body when I tried to wake him up. No little twitches of the skin, none of that involuntary movement. I knew then he was gone without doubt, but I had felt it the whole time. Here's to you big Mike. Love you brother. I hope one day I'll see you again. We were always the ones for wishful thinking.

So true how Joe and Henry describe the common work-a-day world for the vast majority of us humans. I was forewarned about that world from observing my parents while I was growing up. They both absolutely hated their jobs (my dad was an industrial engineer and my mom was a teacher) and my dad especially would bitch and moan about his job every day at the dinner table. He would come home from work usually pissed off, down 2 or 3 beers and fall asleep watching TV, then stagger into the kitchen to eat dinner. He hated his life but scrimped and saved like a maniac and was able to retire at age 58. My mom also absolutely hated her teaching job in the last 10 years before she retired at age 55. As summer vacation was drawing to a close and the new school year was approaching she became incredibly depressed and would cry all the time. Man, that sucked, but they had two kids to support and put through college so they each felt they had no choice but to grin and bear it as best they could.

Man, I totally felt what Joe Rogan was saying about labouring. After I dropped out of high school, I studied carpentry for two years at college, I almost quit but I stuck it out. After I really needed work, I wanted a carpentry apprenticeship, but there was jack shit going, so I worked for a family friend doing labouring, I remember for around 5-6 months, I was working 9-5 for £6.80 an hour, a lot of the time I was paying £5-8 a day just on fuel. And one day, one of the carpenters my boss has contracting for him, asked me if I had a trade, and I said about how I’d studied carpentry, he gave me the best bit of advice and told me to work for myself, and since then I never looked back and I run my own business building fences, earning £150+ a day sometimes instead of £50 or whatever shit I was earning, it taught me that being your own boss means living life on your terms, hope this helped someone

I quit a toxic job 4 months ago. Worked there for 5 years. SO glad I did. Small company the owner was an alcoholic/pot head with alot of personal issues going on in his life, and somehow he thought it was okay to blame all his problems on others that carried 80% of the weight. Guy made big money off my back and I got pennies in return. I honestly should have quit it years ago but I was naive and stupid. Now, I know better. If it ever happens again I will be out MUCH sooner. Thankfully my skills are in somewhat demand so I don't have to blow people to keep a job. The stress was hurting me. The guy still denies it to this day, "I'm raising my voice at you but I'm not arguing with you". The guy would look for anything he could find to bitch about. I've been through enough of my own problems to not have to deal with other people's. Told him for 2 years straight I come here to work, not argue with people about nothing."

I did roofing for a few months when I was younger with my uncle before going to work for CAT. Pretty much everyone there was a washed up raging alcoholic, delinquent, and a complete loser. I'd pick my uncle up (multiple DUI's) and he'd have one of those big travel mugs filled with beer at 5 AM. Lunch was another 6 pack, so on and so forth. He was in his mid 50's when he died and looked much much older. Man, watching him try to play scrabble on holidays as he lost all his money because he couldn't spell... The cabinet shop I worked at in high school was a step up, but still a bunch of scum bags. Just mean and shitty people for no reason. Probably one of the biggest dickhead bosses I've ever had too. Then there's the short time I did cell tower climbing. Most of the guys were alright to deal with, but all of them had baggage. Some how they were always broke and I saw a guy try to write a check for a case of beer. They always had to do shit the hardest way possible. I still work with my hands, but mainly in a air conditioned building and clean room. Fuck working outside in the midwest or doing heavy lifting all day.
