They broke the law, they have to bare the consequences. We can't just let everyone into the country, all that is going to happen is the country will turn into another 3rd world country. @MegaMapper
4 жыл бұрын
2 reasons: They take them away because it's difficult to control everybody especially in overcrowded facilities and if kids and adults are togheter you can expect pedophiles doing weird shit there. Remember that highly secured prisons with adults only have rapes etc. so from not-so-highly-secured ICE facility you might expect more of that stuff so that's why they are separated. Besides... it's parents fault. If they go through dangerous journey to get illegally to richer country it's totally their fault if their children are taken away from them. They could do it legally and learn english and get legal job in better country so their kids will be safe but nope... Instead they do criminal acts so they are criminals and criminals are taken away from children.

The main reason is they cannot put a child with an adult while in confinement. If we did then you would be hearing cases about children getting abused while under US care? Our politicians have never really tried to fix it and never will!

Depends on the offense. We're talking about a first-time, nonviolent misdemeanor, that was never handled in this way in the 180 years of there being a US-Mexico border. I could go on and on about how those people at the border were treated far worse than US citizens in a comparable situation.
@Tommy-su9tb

This is a bad statement to go on with. The goal is Plain and Simple, to not separate the kids from the parents, it's not a battle of statistics , of like Oh, these kids don't have homes, so it is okay for these other half of kids to not have homes too. Even with that being said, we have A LOT of programs here for U.S citizens (kids) that get aid if without a parent. Most of the time, the kid will have a relative to stay with, like an uncle aunt, etc. We have foster care systems, that take in children without permanent homes. Rarely would you see a kid not taken care of, if any at all. If you see videos of illegal immigrant kids being cared for, its almost a prison like system, they sleep in a room with ten other kids, and they eat cafeteria food.
@romulan227

@Trustin Lewis Maybe because they have other family they go to during the duration of time their parents are in jail. Or, in some instance, the child are in danger from their own parents. The situation is quite hard to understand without content. But even if they were separated from their parents due to a crime their parents committed, they still have the option to see them or call them. They are never far away. But the situation of immigrants does not reflect this. No visitation, no phone calls, not even a letter. None of that is available because the systems misplaced them all. Parents don't know where their kids are, kids don't know where their parents are, and kids are in a strange situation. The situation of American kids being separated from their parents does not compare.

@Trustin Lewis I'm not proposing anything. Just answering your questions. Why don't you propose something more humane for the illegals? The issue with children being separated is pretty simple, actually: There are a number of people sending their children over the border, but aren't coming themselves. They literally pay someone else - sometimes an uncle, sometimes just some offering the service - to bring their children up here. To make matters even better, these people usually claim, "I'm their father/mother." This puts the US government in the dubious position of trying to find out just _who_ these kids are and who _their_ parents are. I mean yes, it's bad, but we're literally trying our best to make the best of a bad situation. Some of these 'couriers' aren't good people, and will set these kids up with modern slavery to gangs. So yeah, some kids are getting separated and not always correctly. That's the issue you face when people with no ID or with ID that you can't rely on. Seriously, what is the alternative?

“A line in the dirt” is a gross understatement for our unprotected borders. It’s the border at which our sovereignty as a nation begins. You are not agreeing to abide by our laws by crossing that border without consent. The ambiguity of whether someone will follow our laws is one of the greatest dangers. So now that you have committed what has been proven to be a “nontrivial” crime, you go to a detention center. That’s how it works, and that’s not a place for children. They shouldn’t be held in cages, but neither should they be kept with their parents that have committed a crime. It’s just a typical scenario whose mundanity has been flipped by politics; people are trying to search for something inhumane in something routine for political gain. It’s silly and pathetic. Joe is completely clueless on this issue. I protested Obama and my father protested George W. Most people laughed at the inhumanity. I'm sure Joe did as well since I've never heard him speak on the decades long problem of open borders

Randy Savage Cause the law said they couldn't put kids in jail. Now they changed it so if the parent is in jail for illegally crossing the border you CAN put THEIR kids in jail. Happy now?

Mike Tython why do we need to put five year olds in jail... What does no one realize how insane that sounds. most of these people are just seeking Asylum which is completely legal under the Constitution

Most people just don't want to live in their shithole countries and that's apparently everybody not in the states nowadays. And everybodies excuse, which is quickly becoming a nom excuse. People need to learn to defend and care for the land the grew up in. Not to invade foreign lands because things got hard.

On the right side I don’t know anyone who says, ripping kids from parents-they shouldn’t have broken the law. It’s about trafficking and adults faking documentation or no documentation proving parental rights.

The children were separated because many of them were brought in by traffickers and their DNA was tested to find out if they were with their parents.

People should focus on fixing the immigration system by helping people come legally while trying to make it faster and more accessible to go through the process. The problem is how you come in. No one gets a pass, we are a nation of rules. That being said, stop allowing illegal immigration and push for more legal immigration
@mzs5454

Push for neither. Why provide care for foreigners, who's ancestors contributed nothing to the nation, when your countrymen starve in the thousands on the streets?

@@ramonlopez5557how? If I illegally went into Mexico I'd be arrested and put in a Mexican prison. go to any other country on the planet and cross a border illegally and see what happens. every country has laws and rules and the fact that people like you believe that the ones in america don't apply is ridiculous. you guys are the type of people to get mad about a white women from America going to another country and acting as if she owns it but you're completely ok with people coming into our home and fucking things up. I get why these people want to come over here. I get it. my brother in law was illegal but it's not about racism or bigotry. we can't even properly take care of the citizens we have now but we are gonna take care of citizens from another country? it don't make sense.

There are about 328 million Americans and about 128 million people in Mexico. Lets let them all stay at Joe's house in Texas. 😅
