A couple of things to keep in mind. 1-when we made the decision to move equipment the roads were clear,a quick snow squall came through and dropped a good amount of snow quick. 2-we had two options to get this tractor out of there. These tractors have a park brake that can only be released with hydraulic pressure. You just ain’t going to be able to drag it with it locked in park. One option is to do it the way we did or to hire a crane or a large tow truck.Either or the whole tractor would of had to been lifted and set onto the trailer. 3-the tractor leaking a little oil is what you would call a casualty of war.It got cleaned up,we lost about 3 gallons total. You can’t plug off the ports where the oil was coming from. Those were pressure return ports and the reason why we had to even have the tractor running was drive it and release the brakes. 4-snow was pushed onto and over the oil to contain it and keep it from running off the road.If you don’t think it works try it,pour a few gallons of oil on your black top driveway it will not flow as fast mixed with snow. 5-yes the guys were cracking jokes but what you didn’t see is we all cried before that and held hands all we lacked was being able to hold a puppy. Everybody is entitled to an opinion after all this is social media.....I just wanted to explain a few things is all.

The more of your videos I watch the more of a role model you are becoming for me Andy… I am 30 and I find myself thinking Man I should be a little bit more like that guy. Yelling and screaming doesn’t get you anywhere I realize that. But I really admire how you keep your cool show up come up with a plan and get it done. In the video it seems like the guys were standing around laughing and joking but that could just be the video you don’t get the whole story start to finish sometimes. Glad no one got hurt that’s the important thing. We were fortunate we never had any accidents on the road with the tractors. But that looks like it’s going to be an expensive one I’m sure whoever was driving will take the slippery roads in large amounts of weight into consideration a little bit more. But again we don’t know the full story on what happened so it’s not fair to make judgments about what happened. Great video though you guys are all very impressive. Really glad nobody was hurt. Years ago a neighbor landed in the hospital from a multi-vehicle wreck that removed the wheel and final drive from an Allis Chalmers 180. He was pulling a forage wagon and making a left turn from a state highway to a dirt road when a little car (like a Chevy Citation) decided to pass him on the left. Fortunately there were no serious injuries and they only took my neighbor to the hospital because of his age (80+, if I recall.) A few years later we had a rear wheel come off an AC 170, but that was a failure of one of the locks on the power adjust hub system. A few years earlier the tractor had been overhauled and the dealer said they installed new locks but had, instead, built up weld on the seat which eventually wore through the steel bar on the rim.

I hauled utility poles out of the csx yard over off 481 for years. I know from experience how crazy fast the weather changes over there, and usually not for the better. I couldn’t guess how many times I headed north on 81 from Syracuse and could see a white wall up ahead of me. Going from dry pavement into a whiteout. I’m from nh, but I loved that area, beautiful farmland and great people. I spent weeks hauling poles up north during the big ice storm in, I think it was 98. Slept two nights in my day cab, and was treated like royalty by the people up north between Watertown and Potsdam. I miss that job, and the people I use to interact with. Andy I hope you have a better winter than the day you had. Merry Christmas to you and your family. Don from nh

When you look at the potential for injury for the operator or other motorists. 150 gallons of diesel in a plastic tank or if the manure tank had stuff in it I will stand by just a tractor. That is why there is insurance. Insurance will probably total it and Andy can buy it back for parts or to fix

People who don't live in Upstate NY have no idea how quickly the road conditions can deteriorate in a matter of minutes. You can go from wet roads to a foot of ice and snow in a matter of miles. Local snow plow crews have many miles of roads to plow and salt, and they do a good job. Thankfully no one was hurt, that's what matters the most. You did good Andy, and so did the guys, made the best out of a bad situation.
