What no Dragon on Fire...how can you omit that!! That's when we first saw this guy!! Also, Incredible Kung Fu Mission!! The fight scene at the end was nuts when he kicked the villain like 10 times while in a split! Also Secret Rivals 3!!

John Jiu is one of the very best pure kickers of all time in kung fu cinema- and there's really just 3 elite ,imo. John Liu, Hwang Jang-lee, and Tao-Liang Tan , imo... 1) Dragon & Hero.... 2) Death Duel of Kung Fu ....3) Invincible Armor 4) Northern Kicks/Southern Fists ....5) Instant Kung Fu ....among my fav John Liu's best films. ...(Thanks for Sharing) 😉

One writer wrote that the end of the 'Basher' films of the early 70's came to an end with the introduction of such performers as Hwang Jang-Lee, Tan Tao-Liang, John Liu Chung-Liang. Now kung fu films was about well-choreographed hand movements, acrobatics, and flashy kicks. Liu, the founder of Zen Kwun Do, is recognized for not only for his kicking ability but also his flexibility. Another writer wrote that he kicks well, but only with his right leg; suggesting that his left leg is weak. In clip #1- a stunt double is doing all the acrobatics. Even when Liu is utilizing a spear, in another fight scene, Corey Yuen-Kwai is his stunt double. Clip#2- Liu, as always, is showing off his perfectly formed flying side kick. Clip#3-that was some good choreography. Clip# 4- that scene was kind of lame. Clip#5- Liu was doubled here as well. The Dragon, the Hero aka Dragon on Fire (1979) is his best film. It was through this film that I was first introduced to a 'Super Kicker' by the name of John Liu.

Thank you I notice around mid 70's to late 70's the fight choreography in Kung Fu films became much streamline and smoother in contrast to the jagged one man army over top fight scenes in early HK films as they were trying to emulate Bruce Lee character one man taking on a dojo or gang members by themselves
