I met Bob Hope in the 50’s. I was a bellboy at a now defunct hotel in Palm Springs. Hope was a generous tipper. I dropped one of his bags and his clothes spilled onto the ground; lots of underwear, your basic standard white underwear. I said “Mr. Hope, that’s a lot of underwear.” He replied, “isn’t that wild?”

Johnny didn't like Bob and Bob's NBC pull.

that is a myth that a lot of people have heard and believe......the reality is that Johnny and Hope both knew that NBC insisted Hope go on shows to promote his big NBC Special programs that were shown in prime time...Carson's late night show had an audience of 4 million viewers...but Hope's NBC Prime Time Specials were blockbusters that drew 80 MILLION viewers...Johnny knew all that and was glad to have Hope on....just in this short clip, it is obvious that Johnny both respected and LIKED Bob Hope...

@@essessessesq People like Conan O'Brien and David Letterman have attested to directly hearing Johnny complain about having Bob Hope as a guest. Doesn't sound like a rumor.

......i will stick to the facts, and the facts are these.....the reality is that Johnny was a professional, and both Johnny and Hope knew that NBC insisted Hope go on shows to promote his big NBC Special programs that were shown in prime time...Carson's late night show had an audience of 4 million viewers...but Hope's NBC Prime Time Specials were blockbusters that drew 80 MILLION viewers...Johnny knew all that. NBC wanted Hope to go out and promote his big hit TV shows....Johnny had no choice in it......But .just in this short clip, it is obvious that Johnny both respected and LIKED Bob Hope...@@chetmanley7514

@@essessessesqIt is not a rumor per say. Johnny was most likely annoyed and also impressed in different ways. Feels like a love hate relationship towards Bob.

yes, possibly so...and also a certain amount of Johnny being jealous that Bob Hope's prime time NBC special shows pulled an audience of 80 million viewers, while Johnny's late-nite show had just 4 million viewers...Johnny also jealous possibly that BOTH of the previous hosts of Tonight Show went on to have successful prime time shows on NBC ...Steve Allen and Jack Paar ] but NBC never believed Johnny could draw a big prime time audience....As Stave Allen said when NBC offered him the prime time show--"The Tonight Show was 5 days per week of work and the prime time show was ONE day. And the prime time show paid me more than ten times as much money as Tonight paid. So the decision was an easy one." Johnny never got that choice.@@pronemanoldbutyoung5548

Mr Hope was quite possibly one of the contributing actors to the invention of the #METOO movement.

It is indeed from 1990. The book and the special based on the book were both done in 1990. Besides that if you knew half as much as you think you do, you would realize that 1990 is correct based on how old Hope and Carson appear to be.
