Rob's version is great, but so is Ripper's! I'm just going to say Ripper killed it here. I'm one of the few Priest fans that gave him a chance and I'm glad I did. Saw the Jugulator show in Indy, it kicked my ass. I missed Rob for sure, but you can't deny that Ripper did an excellent job. I think he really shines on the Jugulator album singing his own stuff, which proves he's not just a cover singer.

Comme pour Blaze Bailey qui ne fût pas reconnu à sa juste valeur dans Iron Maiden, deux bons chanteurs qui malheureusement pour eux ont eu comme prédécesseur Rob Halford et Bruce Dickinson...

Love how they tuned their guitars down for this to create a much more powerful and fatter live sound complete with Ripper's epic vocals.

According to the author, Peter Green of Fleetwood Mac, it is the devil himself, manifested as a wad of cash. The evils of money.

Why did they tune it down though? Ripper was definitely able to hit the highs especially in '98

i figured it out that they did it, to sound like "90s metal", sound more "american" , more "groove", and IMO , thats the problem with this JP era, the problem wasnt ripper for sure, the problem was priest triyng to sound like pantera or sepultura, when youre priest you MUST sound like priest

B. He's probably the only one with the ability to take Rob's place. I think he did even better than Rob on some of these tracks.

Etown Vintage Buys You’re absolutely right, but unfortunately the Priest-heads never accepted him. Incredible voice. Possibly the best metal voice imaginable in my book.

Sounds great, I still like the Live from Japan version better from '79 though. Something about how it was recorded or produced?

There are a few songs Tim just did better. This is one of them. Diamonds and Rust is another. In my opinion metal meltdown was his all time best performance tho! Just my opinion.
