I find that listening to this track and the whole album Judy Speaks to be the best way to understand who she really was and that she was not this tragic and poor lost little girl. She'd been screwed over by allot of people and this was the way for her to get her feelings off of her chest and this is the only biography anyone could need if you want to learn about Judy Garland. Judy herself is relaying the message.

I’ve heard commentaries of this tape, and they say she’s implying that she didn’t care about anyone but herself and thought she was better than everyone. You could take it literally that way, or say she was being funny. Some of the stuff on theses tapes wasn’t funny though.

Her own interview of herself. The media hacks were awful. They rarely would chip away at the entertainment industry or even criticize them. They seem to always say the same thing over and over again when interviewing her. Judy is a wealth of knowledge and insight. She was all for the people, the audience. I would love to know all the choreographers that she and Liza worked with. And all the creative artists they worked with. Understanding Judy, Liza, and Lorna's development process. All of her children developed a creative artistic craft. From what I have read online they admired the creativity of others. Judy a legend, she worked in vaudeville, radio, theater, movies, television, concerts. She could sing, dance, and act. I want to hear more about what she liked and loved as a person. I have noticed that in her songs there are lyrics about birds and nature.

On June 22, 1969, Deans found Garland dead in the bathroom of their rented mews house in Chelsea, London; she was 47 years old. At the inquest, Coroner Gavin Thurston stated that the cause of death was "an incautious self-overdosage" of barbiturates; her blood contained the equivalent of 10 1.5-grain (97 mg) Seconal capsules Thurston stressed that the overdose had been unintentional and that no evidence suggested she had committed suicide. Garland's autopsy showed no inflammation of her stomach lining and no drug residue in her stomach, which indicated that the drug had been ingested over a long period of time, rather than in a single dose. Her death certificate stated that her death had been "accidental". Supporting the accidental cause, her doctor noted that a prescription of 25 barbiturate pills was found by her bedside half-empty and another bottle of 100 was still unopened A British specialist who had attended her autopsy said she had nevertheless been living on borrowed time owing to cirrhosis, although a later autopsy showed no evidence of alcoholism or cirrhosis She died twelve days after her forty-seventh birthday. Her Wizard of Oz co-star Ray Bolger commented at her funeral, "She just plain wore out Forensic pathologist Jason Payne-James believed that Garland had an eating disorder, which contributed to her death After her body had been embalmed by Desmond Henley, Deans took Garland's remains to New York City on June 26, where an estimated 20,000 people lined up to pay their respects at the Frank E. Campbell Funeral Chapel in Manhattan, which remained open all night long to accommodate the overflow crowd. On June 27, James Mason gave a eulogy at the funeral, an Episcopal service led by the Rev. Peter A. Delaney of St Marylebone Parish Church, London, who had officiated at her marriage to Deans, three months prior. The public and press were barred. She was interred in a crypt in the community mausoleum at Ferncliff Cemetery in Hartsdale, New York, a small town 24 miles (39 km) north of midtown Manhattan At the insistence of her children, Garland's remains were disinterred from Ferncliff Cemetery in January 2017 and re-interred 2,800 miles (4,500 km) across the country at the Hollywood Forever Cemetery in Los Angeles nearly 50 years after her death

Judy was NOT the tragic figure that people have written about. When you listen to these tapes you hear that she may be under the influence but she makes lucid statements & jokes around. When she does get angry she has legit reasons because she has been maligned & robbed left alone. If you research every article writte about her during her life u will see more positive stories than tragic ones. It's only after her death the tragic stories really came out.

Why was she drugged and drunk during these sessions? Was it because she had to go back and look at her life? She sounds high.
@jonathankieranwriter
2 жыл бұрын
She was using the tape recorder to take-down an audio account of her life as a helpful means of producing chronological material for an autobiography-Random House had given her a big advance to write it. I imagine she had a little drinkie or two in order to loosen up and let the stories roll with greater ease. Few people must enjoy dictating intimate recollections of a tumultuous past into a machine and she was probably experiencing some trepidation about the whole process. She was definitely tipsy, but not shitfaced at this point.

This makes me think of the story told by one of her assistants of sitting next to her on a plane in the 1960s. Judy turned away as though she was going to put on powder, but instead she smashed the compact mirror against the plane window and rubbed the broken glass on her face - and then turned back to show off her bloody, sliced-up flesh. I think she was smiling when she did so.

Judy had been known to self-harm. I believe she was a Borderline/NPD. Although if we were to believe everyone that has come out since her death to tell their stories, we could think she was anti-social as well. Disturbing stuff has been said and written about her. There’s always an element of truth hidden but many things were likely embellished for sensationalism and profit since the Judy movie has come out.
@jonathankieranwriter

That was one malignant assertion from an assistant of an assistant who wrote a dubious tell-all a few years ago. I don’t believe most (if any) of the woman’s gossip. The woman’s timelines are rife with inaccuracies and the idea that she had such intimate access to Judy strains credulity. The woman was basically a person on the periphery at that time. An assistant to one of Garland’s agents/managers. She much later handled Liza Minnelli’s career and said some things about Liza, but Minnelli did not even dignify the assertions with a denial or any kind of recognition. She knew she didn’t want to give the creature one iota of publicity by reacting. Smart move.
