Several times during these short minutes, she states that she's "alone, as usual". What a crime! This beautiful woman gave her life to be a source of joy and happiness and music to young and old. It's massively heartbreaking that she finds herself with NO ONE who REALLY cares.....alone. I love Judy more than ever 💘.

Now, you see and hear here, compared to some of the audio recordings on similar KZitem videos, that she is very calm and has her wit about her. Not irritable and volatile like she was in some of the other ones. Of course she slurred. But anyone would after so many years of being addicted to the meds she was constantly on. She was a good woman, regardless.

And across the room, on my library shelf are about 35 vials of pills. You know the shame of it is she didn't do this to herself. She was given Amphetamines and Barbiturates first by her mother and then by the studio. So you end up with a 13 year old with a dependency problem. By this time in her life getting her sober would have undoubtedly killed her. So I think all the doctors in her life knew that it would be easy to keep her medicated than to detox her.

She is being honest and sincere yet some people try to insinuate she was either drunk or high on drugs ! She sure as hell wasn't a junkie she was on medication from doctors that's all I wish people would remember this , and listen to a lady nearing the end of her life trying to reach out for help !!!

Paul Simpson some people are just jerks about this kind of thing. they hear her slurring and think it's funny, and not that she may or may not have a serious problem. i hope she at least got a bit of catharsis from bearing her soul like that.

I think she was a bit hazy from the barbiturates she was dependent upon to sleep. It was one of the injustices of her life that people often mistook the effects of those pills, her "medication" as she referred to them, for drunkenness. Sad and unfair.

"I have the tenacity of a praying mantis" -she could be so funny and self deprecating, even in extremis. Wonderful stream of consciousness chat. I don't think she was drunk, as some have insinuated, but rather a bit hazy with the sleeping pills she was dependent on, and which eventually killed her. These recordings are very poignant, and they give us an insight into what it might have been like to be on the other end of one of the through-the-night phone calls she made to friends and associates.

I am tired of people saying she is drunk or,high too Paul, she wasn't , she was given medication, different medications because they didn't know how to treat bipolar back then, and she became addicted to them , these tapes are more of her getting things off her chest then telling her life story

Well, some of us are tired of people like you who remain blind to the self-destructive, pathetic drug addict mess that Judy Garland turned into. Your fawning is not the same as loving devotion. It's why she went to an early grave, possibly nearly insane.

+Clare Quilty, Yes Judy had a drug problem. Sleeping pills, wake-up pills, pep pills, more pep pills, all purchased with PERSCRIPTIONS or the studio. It is said that Judy NEVER took a street drug in her life. She didn't get herself addicted, those who were suppose to watch over her and do what was BEST FOR HER when she was a young rising star, didn't care WHAT it took, just as long as it got her in front of the camera. She was a piece of property, not a person. And unfortunately her addiction was on again, and off again. I also understand that on a few occasions she went cold turkey and kicked the physical habit. But, when thinks got bad, she mentally caved in. AND YES I'M A LIFE LONG FAN, AND I'M SICK AND TIRED OF PEOPLE ALWAYS SUGGESTING THAT SHE'S HIGH. IT'S AS THOUGH YOU ARE WALLOWING IN PROBLEMS. A that's not being a fan, that's being perverted.

Lol I adore Judy Garland! I started in radio in the 1980s a lot of times I felt the same way when I was doing production working with the reel-to-reel machines haha LOL then came Automation and the computer technology which change the whole radio industry Etc I just adore her stream of consciousness speaking, God bless her may she rest in peace!

This woman was very intelligent. Even though she was asked to use a tape recorder, she decided what she was going to do and say because someone would decide to upload them and profit from them. At least she’d get the last word I suppose. The industry we see is not reality. It’s mostly fabricated. She was tired of it.

It's not as eccentric as it sounds. The Germans had pioneered reel to reel tape recorders. During the Nazi era their Magnetophons had such good sound quality that Hitler used to record speeches and have them broadcast as if they were live. Judy knew a thing or two!

In these comments we can see that the Garland fanboys have no sense of perspective. She's not charming or funny here; these are the incoherent ramblings of a self-indulgent, spoiled, pampered movie star who has become a hopeless addict. She was nobody's victim but her own.

Hey STORM, you are so out of line. Your stupidity is showing. If you don't like Judy, that's fine, because Judy probably wouldn't like you either. Spoiled, they worked her to death, then gave her pep pills after pep pills and wouldn't let her eat anything but broth. Pep pills and no food, that doesn't sound like spoiled, or pampered to me. It sounds like child abuse. This stuff started at 13 or 14. So go take a flying leap, you jerk.

I WILL forever HATE Sid Luft: he used Judy for money until the day he died! ALL she was to him was a cash cow. I hate how Lorna and he try to act like he loved Judy so; all he did was sell her out and to continue trying to to make money off her CBS show. Sid Luft is in hell for EVERYTHING he did to poor Judy. My Abuelito was a carpenter for M-G-M from the silents-we were “honored guests” to the famous M-G-M auction in ‘69. I remember seeing Judy’s ruby slippers. He used to regale us with stories of how Joan Crawford always brought him Christmas gifts 🎁 and learned some Spanish to speak with him. He was sooo impressed she did this for him!!!! My Abuelito was buried at the FIRST motion picture workers cemetery in Culver City, Candelario Apodaca!!!! I’m honored to be a part of that world 🌍!!
