Here in Ontario, Canada; I got trained as a Mechanical Engineering Technologist, and spent 2 years trying to find work in my field. Worked installing fencing for a landscaper, no education required. Went back to school to get an Electrical Engineering Technologist diploma = spent 3 years looking for work in Southern Ontario, only got work assembling wires in consumer fans on an assembly line, making minimum wage. I'm going to get into heavy equipment, hopefully, I'll earn more than minimum wage there ???

I'm an operator for a backhoe in toronto, we earn $41 an hour and when the time and a half or double time comes in there are checks that come into my bank for about 2grand. Add the that 10% vacation pay for every dollar earned and on a good week ypu take the extra cheque which means the average base salary where I work is 100grand but some operators have been known to earn 180grand in one year.
