I remember 10th November 1969 well.Walked out from behind the curtain at the stadium for the first fight on the card my 1st pro fight in awe of the biggest crowd seen at Festival hall.My opponent Guisseppi Petrucci .What a classic fight was the main! Tony was surely a great boxer fighting the best in the world!

This was Kahu's finest hour, however having seen Mundine fight several times in person I have to say Mundine is the most exciting fighter I have ever seen, a bit like Mike Tyson in his later period - you could see he was very very good but never did quite know what was going to happen

I’m a Maori who grew up in Aus.And spent a lot of time in prison with Aboriginals and they would say Mundine had a glass jaw.But that shot that knocked his shield out was a perfectly timed massive power shot.which was in between punchers while Mundine actually was trying to finish him ,where any fighter knows that is those are the worst shots to be caught with.plus it was late in the fight and the round .when he was tired. And he got straight up.I’ve only seen this and the monzon fight .But the glass jaw thing ,I don’t see it

But aboriginals have had world champions , gold medalists and your right brother my people have talent just need better programs and more attention outside of rugby.

Tony was and is a great fighter with a lot of respect for the men he fought it is just a pity his son never had the the same respect his father had for another fighter,,Tony was a very quiet sort of fella and never bragged about how good he was, i really dont think Tony knew how good he was, maybe the public would have accepted Tony jr if he took after his dad instead of being the big mouth brat he turned into too
