Hello, The Netherlands! Don't waste your time on this link from Enrique the Berniecrat. The main idea to "get money out of politics" is good, but it’s counter-productive to condemn anyone who accepts a one-time contribution of the maximum of $2,800 for the entire primary campaign while praising someone who accepts $2,800 in smaller monthly donations. It’s still the same amount. it's unfair to single out Buttigieg or any other candidate for unjust criticism. Until Republicans all play by the "small donations only" purity rules, Democrats are shooting themselves in the foot if they don't hold fundraisers. We need to win in 2020 first, and then work to overturn Citizens United and fix the system to get money out of politics. Letting Trump win definitely won't fix anything.

I mean just listen to Kara’s outraged First Amendment fear mongering in response. For all Sander's and Warren's stink about not holding fundraising events (that count toward your individual max) they bot had no problem moving millions into their coffers from such events the held in the past. There is nothing shady about a campaign fundraiser and Pete has held low dollar and high dollar ones. He renovated the downtown area and improved the streets and sewers. www.npr.org/2019/04/14/712412977/pete-buttigieg-helped-transform-south-bend-as-mayor-but-some-feel-left-out He instituted body cams, bias training, use of force training, transparency, and minority recruitment policies for the SBPD. And that's as true in South Bend as anywhere else. But overall, South Bend is a better place after 8 years of Pete as its mayor than it was before he came on the scene. He's not perfect. @@justmikec1327 Hi Mike. You can follow Yang's (and everyone else's) poll numbers on the site called RealClearPolitics. They publish the results of every responsible poll individually and you can see the candidate's accumulated polling average by clicking on "Democratic Nomination" directly under the big word "Polls" in the upper left corner and then selecting "National", "Iowa", "New Hampshire," etc. on the drop down menu to see how all the candidates line up with one another. The information changes almost daily as new polls come in. I actually find it fascinating to follow. If you'll click on each of the state polls listed you'll see that Andrew is actually up to 3 percent in at least one of those states even though he is at less than 1 percent in Iowa. You seem to be making the mistake of thinking that twitter and social media are any indication of anything happening in the real world! We twitter and social media warriors make up only a tiny percentage of the entire general electorate so we can get really misled by thinking they mean anything at all in the whole picture. They really don't. It's the same with all the progressive chatter about Bernie, Tulsi, Maryanne Williamson and Mike Gravel. All but Bernie are actually polling worse than Yang. They aren't going to be factors when all is said and done but social media would have you think they were serious contenders. All but Bernie are likely to be gone by the third debate--and, if not then, certainly by the fourth. The Des Moines Register poll is considered the "gold standard" of polling. When they asked likely voters to label candidates WITH WHOM THEY WERE FAMILIAR as "very favorable," "somewhat favorable," "somewhat unfavorable," or "very unfavorable," --and then ranked the candidates according to those responses--Yang came in #17 out of 23 candidates. He is seen as mostly unfavorable--and that has to be a reflection of both policy and personality. (By the way, Mayor Pete came in at #1.)

gdouglas999 hi and thank you for the info. I am familiar with the site but never dug into the specific state by state polling. I’m not a twitter or social media warrior. In fact I rarely respond on KZitem only to give thanks to useful DIY videos. I started up as a result of Andrew Yang. This is my thinking, and I admit I can be wrong, I think that the role of social media is being overlooked because we are in a state of transition from traditional polling and media outlets. I think more and more people are going to podcasts and social media and that a high percentage in those fields can translate into positive primary results.

Be smarter. #ElectPete2020

This guy has surged in the polls and raised the most moneyfor a reason. Despite a fair amount of political talent in the current democratic presidential pool, no one else holds a candle to Pete. For me, the only question is who does he pick for his running mate after he gets the nomination.

4:55 a concept few politicians understand. Your residents, citizens, etc. are your boss and who you are ultimately accountable to as a mayor or as president. It’s such a massively important nuance that gets overlooked. Good for Mayor Pete for believing in this perspective.

Kara Swisher is a good interviewer - I enjoyed this. One note, her mic is turned up noticeably hotter than Pete's, which could be fixed in future interviews.
