I like Jim Plaskett's even tone in commentary better than all the hype of the later loud mouths.

Shirov never has defeated Kasparov, his record against him is like 14 losses. It´s kinda weird if we consider both Elos(about 2700 for Shirov and 2800 for Garry),not a big difference in that matter.

At 12,40, was it necessary to focus on Shirov´s head for almost 30 seconds?

06:38 "He can take either way, doesn`t really matter." (say what? - everything matters in chess and there`s alwasy an explanation on why a move was chosen over an other)

Plaskett meant both takes are good. On one hand, the recapture with the c-pawn frees the light squared bishop via b7 and makes moves like f5 eventually to undermine e4 an idea. axb5 opens the a file.

haha yea man poor shirov, he always got owned so bad by kasparov. i think the final score between them in classical games is 13 wins, 7 draws, and 0 losses in kasparovs favor

taking this silly pawn on d6 looks wierd for Shirov. However, he got a terrible score against Kasparov.

terrible opening to go into for white. even a a noob chess player knows white should not to trade the dark bishop for a knight just to win a pawn lol

+Dion Marinos Yes, Perhaps Nb3 was better than Bxf6, but it was a central pawn, and it's not clear black was better after Bxf6.
