Kastamonu Castle
The castle, as the symbol of the city, is located on the highest point of Kastamonu. Located on the west of the city on top of a main rock mass, was built by Komnenosses in 10th - 11th century. Only the interior castle was left today from the original castle. The outer walls of the castle were destroyed in 18th century. The changes which the castle passed through made it reflect Turkish architecture rather than Byzantium architecture of Middle Ages. The castle is about 120 higher than the city, and the ease on transportation makes it the best place to view Kastamonu panoramically. There is a grave known as “Bayraklı Sultan
