In Minnesota here 0 at night is a warm night. We get -20 at night with a -30 to -40 windchill.

To be honest I live in Vermont and as long as they have a windbreaker and plenty of good feed and a good bedding pack they're good my man I seen -30 here at times

You need pine trees, it makes great shelter. It'll always be the first place they head to.

Have you thought about using bulls from the north, like Minnesota, Dakotas? Breed in the hardiness of colder weather?

What else are you feeding besides hay? my guess is some kind of cubes. I have no idea how to manage cattle in an area like yours. I live in deep south Texas where snow is a rarity for sure. hell sometimes we feed cactus after burning off the thorns. Another question, are you running a breeding operation also

We have a custom feed mix we feed in concrete troughs for most. Some get cubes. All get mineral tubs. We've heard about burning cactus thorns to feed them. Ranching offers many kinds of tough. Carry on stron!. We raise all of our stock here on the ranch, except for a few peractice bulls we've bought. Thanks for watching.

"icicle in the cows ears"Just like people if they get wet it's going to make the cold even worse. To survive winter cows need windbreaks, to shelter them from Icy gust, as well as warm dry places to rest called bedded packs. If they were wild, these animals would migrate to warmer places. But these animals have no choice

Some days this winter the high was only in the teens. For us, that's cold. It's all relative to what you're conditioned to.
