His son Jesse is a great musician. I’ve listened to Don’t close Your Eyes so many times, I can probably sing the entire album by heart. I’m glad the Hall of Fame finally gave him the honor he deserved.

How we went the whole period of time from when Hank Williams made country music popular, through the late 80s and early 90s, ending with probably George Strait, Alan Jackson, Travis Tritt, and a few others (Keith obviously in that company) with GREAT country music singers singing country music. Then, how we went from such great music to the bro dude garbage spewed out of Nashville today, I’ll never know. It’s either the people have become increasingly dumber in musical preference, or they just don’t know anything about country music, its purpose, and its origins. It’s probably a little of both based on the people we elect to political office (in both parties) and the music that is the most popular today. It’s really embarrassing and an insult to people like Keith Whitley. Please go back and learn Nashville!!!

JayBirdsChannel You nailed it. My only time I got to see the Grand Ole Opry was March 7, 1958 . I'll never forget that. PURE COUNTRY MUSIC. Nuff said 🙏🇺🇲
