In the early 70’s my uncle Lee Allen brought Keith Whitley and Ricky Skaggs and Roy Lee Centers up to my grandpa’s house and they played music about all night and stayed the night.

He died way too young. Keith was a great country star. I feel sorry for Lorrie cause she was married to him for a little while and died alone in a motel room while touring. They made a beautiful couple.

First heard Mr. Keith Whitley on a CD my dad had in 1997, when I was 16. I played that CD over and over and over and over. I still play it in 2020 at age 39. Will love his music until the end. If you have a gift, share it, for others.

A few years ago I overdosed on whiskey! For two weeks I didn’t know anyone else was in the world! I survived! What I can say is that if Keith suffered anything like I did it wasn’t that bad! I was with the last people I loved and admired! I didn’t think bad thoughts only good! I could spend a month telling you what I went through or my dreams but what I will tell you is it didn’t hurt! It wasn’t lonely! I don’t think he suffered! Rip Keith! We’ll always live you!

I first saw Keith play when he came to my grade school in the late sixties. He was playing with Ralph Stanley. And yes I grew up in Elliott county,KY. 5 miles from Sandy Hook.

It's been said many times before I'm sure ......but Keith Whitley is one of the greatest TRUE country singers who ever lived....we only got to see a glimpse of what he could've become....much like Hank Williams before him.....it's so unfortunate that we lost him so young. He never knew how good he really was or how much he was really loved. RIP
