Especially K. Hernandez could have walked more. I do not know how you could consider Votto and 1st ballot hall of famer and not consider some of the guys mentioned.

AJ really reading over OPS+. I would be good with honestly any of those 5 guys making the HOF. I would preferentially be small hall but that is done for at this point. So now, let anyone deserving under current criteria get in. All 5 of those guys fit for me. Many icons and key members of their teams. But unless you hit the counting stat benchmarks or have a prime that is ungodly (none of those 5 have that), then I really only care much about WAR and OPS+ among the stats shown on the screen. We can quibble over HR or BA but unless you got 500 or 3000 hits, I don’t really care. Votto was the best all around player (as indicated by WAR) and the best all around hitter (as indicated by OPS+ and wRC+) of this group. Don’t think he is a sure fire first ballot guy (though I think that distinction is also stupid). But he is a HOFer more so than these others. Ending up a one team player (since he never actually played for the Jays) helps too. He stayed loyal to a poorly run franchise. Hard to hold that against him in terms of playoff success.

I’m not surprised that he learned this way, DiPoto is trying to say his own Assamese Dipoto should have been fired for the lack of quality signing ps this year! Clearly he isn’t the best at identifying what was needed or what type of players to bring in to fix the problem with the M’s! Until Dipoto is replaced and a new ownership identified that wants to win at any cost is found for this franchise! The ownership only wants the franchise as a tax write off, this is the best it will ever get! I have grown up with this franchise from their beginning. They have always floundered at the top regardless of the produce on the field! All 47 yrs and counting. Just once before I die would be nice! It’s the chant of every Mariners fan young and old!

Look, it was a mutiny by the entire team. When a team goes from +10.5 in the division lead, to -5.5 in second place within 30 days. That's a huge sign that the team is tired of the manager. Also, and I may be wrong. That has NEVER happened in the history of MLB. We have all worked for a manager who should not be in that pisition. And so we know how that is. Also, working as a manager for a difficult owner is nothing new. The new manager must learn to stand up and work with him. The problem with a lot of owners is that they think you're smarter than the guys they hire. With these dictators, the end results are disappointing. Just trust that you hired the right guy and let him manage.

Angels improvement…? Is there a ballplayer named Angels who’s improved? The LA Angels were 35-46 at the midpoint, now they’re 57-81. They were 73-89 in 2023, and now w/o Ohtani (and Trout for the most part again) they were on pace for 70 wins. Since the end of June, a 62-100 pace. Improving? 🤨

Seattle bought a ticket to Scapegoat City. Changing managers in midseason(late August?!) accomplishes nothing, unless the team is a LEGITIMATE WORLD SERIES CONTENDER. In no universe is Seattle a LEGITIMATE WORLD SERIES CONTENDER, due to the season-long inept offense--which is the GM's fault, not the field manager's fault. The Angels will continue to be mediocre(at best) until and unless Arte Moreno quits being the de facto GM(or sells the team)
@t_momula9057

The mariners have led the league in strikeouts for the past four seasons, every player on this team is hitting 100+ points below their average OPS and somehow Scott is just a scapegoat? Scott Servais couldn’t coach his team to hit water if they fell out of a boat. First of all, if it wasn’t for Jerry Dipoto, the mariners wouldn’t have the pitching staff in place to be a contender, which the mariners were coming into the season. And technically, they still are. But when your teams batting average and strikeouts get worst over the course of your time with that team, then guess what?? The word you’re preaching to these players is just not getting through to them, or it is getting through but it’s terrible information. Jorge Polanco, Mitch Garver and Haniger had some of the best eyes in baseball. Shit even Ty France, and you mean to tell me they just lost that? Or is the plan of approach that is being handed down by umm, the MANAGER, not working?
