Fantastic! I wish my Astronomy instructor was as clear in his instruction of Kepler.

well jacky if you want to learn something about physics then i suggest ya you review the formulas in chemistry first theyre are more formulas in physics than in chemistry thats why physics is alot harder

Why are orbits not circular? Is it because the Sun is moving or because the Sun and planet pull on eachother (gravity)?
@saulremi314

It's a consequence of the inverse square law for gravity.

@@saulremi314 Copernicus & Kepler observed, then applied maths in an attempt to explain. Then Newton applied his G & M. None knew Inflationary Expansion Theory of the Universe. The only way elliptical orbits make sense to me is knowing the Sun, Solar System and Milky Way are all in motion described by acceleration. Acceleration and deceleration means you cannot have circular orbits, which imply a constant velocity. I don't perceive it as radii or foci but as perpetual expansion due to changing velocity of all 'heavenly bodies'.

@@patienceobongo We don't know anything for sure. Your take could be the right one. That's the beauty of science. It doesn't matter how long the theory has been around or what the guy's name is that came up with it. If it disagrees with experiment, it's wrong. Inflation could be wrong also. I believe that God has given all of this for our entertainment value. To debate and discuss among ourselves. This universe is a gift. Thanks for your engagement. I enjoyed your comments.

Wait sir!! What is the meaning of the equation a={r(min) +r(max)} ÷ 2=mean distance in kepler's 1st law
@saulremi314
6 жыл бұрын
your interpretation is correct. where r(min)=Rp and r(max)=Ra from the notation in the video. Therefore a=the average of these two just as you wrote down=a={r(min) +r(max)} ÷ 2
