Ingredients
Tamarind - small ball
Shallots - 12 to13 nos
Ginger - 1 nos
Green chilli - 3 to 4 nos
Jaggery - 1 cup
Turmeric powder - 1 tsp
Red chilli powder - 1 1/2 tsp
Asafoetida powder - 1 tsp
Salt - 1 tsp
Oil - 2to 3 tsp
Method
Take a bowl and add tamarind and water. Soak for 10 to 12 minutes.
Chop the shallots and set them aside. Then chop the ginger and set it aside. Then chop the green chilli and set it aside.Then grated the jaggery and set it aside. squeezed the soaked tamarind.Drain the tamarind water and set it aside.Heat oil in a pan and add mustard seed and dry red chilli.Then add the shallots and saute them well.Then add chopped ginger and sauté them well.
Then add green chilli and curry leaves.
Saute them well.Sprinkle some salt on them and sauté them well.Add grated jaggery and mix them well.Now add turmeric powder, red chilli powder, and asafoetida powder.Saute them well till the raw smell is completely gone.
Add the drained tamarind water and stir them well.Add grated jaggery and stir continuously until the gravy thickens.Remove from the fire and set aside.
Serve the tasty inji puli with meals
