Pulinkari is a sambar variant with a very different ingredients, taste and aroma. In Puthucode village during Navarathri time, this pulinkari is made and one has to taste the Kovil Pulingari to experience it fully. Kovil Puligari taste probably cannot be replicated, however since my aunt and cousin are from this place and I happened to have experienced, would like to share this dish for our audience.
This can be had along with hot steamed rice and ghee or along with tiffin items and chapati. Must train your kitchen.
Ingredients:
5 -6 pieces each of Yellow pumpkin, white pumpkin & Elephant Yam, 1/2 coconut grated, 3-4 green chillies, 1 tsp fenugreek seeds, 2 tbsp raw rice, 4-5 red chillies, curry leaves for seating, 1 tsp mustard seeds & 1 red chilli, Coconut Oil, 2 small pieces jaggery, Salt, 3/4 tsp turmeric, 1/4 cup toor dal pressure cooked, Lemon size tamarind soaked in hot water.
