I’m just so used to the sound of the UAD so much, and I always loved it. That’s why I would prefer it over the other ones… Although the BB is pretty awesome as well…!

I think I slightly prefer the PA one for 1073 emulations. Also like the KIT BB N105 though for a slightly different Neve color.

I think all of them improved the sound, even though they didn't all sound the same, each of them brought something. Maybe this is where we should start chosing, not one plug in to cover all bases, but chosing the right one for the job. Plug in developers are going to love me because I have just given them an opportunity to sell us even more things we probably don't need.

Great thorough video! Honestly they all sound good. I personally have the Lindell channel strip and I have enjoyed using it. A lot of these plugins are getting good at emulating the real thing but of course I haven't had a chance to use a real Neve, API or SSL preamp. I can only listen to these types of comparisons and using my decent Sony 7506 headphones, they all sound pretty darn close. I have the BB N105 preamp and I have to say I do like the character it imparts on guitars and vocals. Certainly it's a great value to be able to buy one plugin for under $150 (sales have these going under $100) and be able to load them on all of your channels unlike having one or two physical preamps.

Lindell for me... which is why I use that.. also KIT plugins tend to use a LOT of CPU.. BB 105 does demand way to much CPU. On another note this test also shows what I have learned.. the difference in sound between hardware and plugins is very small. Its not gonna be the part that makes or breaks your recording/mix.

2nd that. i have the schepps 73 and the lindell 73 and the hardware warm 73 eq. the lindell 73 seems to be the closest thing to analogue in a plug in. so far lol......

I could almost write the same review as Vanja Marin. I also thought the Lindell 80 sounded the best, but like him, it's the only one of this bunch that I own and use. But I think you sold me on Plugin Doctor!!🙂

The kit and Lindell didn’t have as much air on the vocal as the HA or the UAD. (EQ only test) I’m sure all could be adjusted while mixing. Cool test. Thanks

Think i preferred the Lindell out of all the plugins. But overall the hardware sounds better in all cases. Can't even put my finger on why. It just sounds more like a professional polished record. Lindell came closest in that regard

Seems like the Lindell isn't handling aliasing very well. It also doesn't quite feel like the Neve heft to me .... It's alright. The UAD doesn't seem to have as much saturation. It's a clean sound.... Not sure it's doing enough though. The BB kind of had it's own sound.... It using much saturation, I'd probably want to use 16x Oversampling with it. thanks for the video.

@@LanewoodStudios Since I use the plugins from Acustica Audio, all other manufacturers no longer give me any pleasure. AA always sounds incredibly analog. The newer stuff (Ash, Tiger, Tulip, Jam, etc.) is very CPU friendly. The older stuff is gradually being upgraded to the new technology. But you can install the demo version of Gold4. If I have AA plugins on 20 or more tracks, of course it becomes a load for the CPU, then I freeze the tracks or use the direct offline processing function in Cubase.

acoustica can be a little hit or miss. Not really into it anymore overall. Sometimes a algorithmic plugin is just hands down better for certain emulations. Artist can only use so many instances of Acoustica before you have to freeze tracks. And some of them have weird artifacts like transient smearing. Some have aliasing like many algorithmic plugins. The technology is capable of some great captures though. No doubt.
