FusionX that’s a personal choice butttt I would never spend $4000 on that bose system. Given you can now get this Klipsch system and a decent reciever for under $1000 all in, I just don’t believe for most people that extra $3000 is going to give you that much better enjoyment of your system. If I was considering that kind of budget then I would install a 7.2.2 atmos system, but that’s just me. You could also have a professional installer come do an in wall system with that budget if space is a concern. Maybe other viewers want to weigh in?

@bengalbyte4344

David Goodman that’s a good question. The way I look at it is as long as there is no input lag over the wireless transmitter, there shouldn’t be a noticeable difference in quality. Unlike the speakers, the bass itself doesn’t have as appreciable of a differentiation in sound. Therefore as long as it is lag free I don’t know that you would gain much by wiring it. It certainly wouldn’t hurt to wire it though! That’s just my 2 cents and based on zero science 😂

5 жыл бұрын
I purchased this 5th generation Quintet 5.1ch pack with 300w peak 10" front firing sub running off a large Onkyo, class AB TX-NR818 A/V receiver. I did find the speakers had a break-in period, where it was difficult to find their equalizer sweet spot. Because the speakers are only as low as 110Hz, I crossed the sub at 120Hz. Tuning down low frequencies a little in the speakers, and allowing the sub to do the heavy lifting, I was able to pull much more mid, to high range clarity out of them. Of course the sub needed tuning as well to take over what these speakers should not be forced to do. For the first month, getting these speakers with less midrange discomfort was a bit difficult. But once you have them tuned, they are not what a couple of reviews say they are. You have to spend time with them to get them set right, and really appreciate getting the most out of them. I do find I definately need that second sub, and as my receiver is 7.2 with Aux out expansion to 9.2, I'm going to grab another speaker pack the same. They are impressive little beasts, that don't see justice from average amplifiers. One review I read said they were a bit flat in the mid-range. I'm not having that problem. They can be too bright in the mid-range, and need to be pulled down from making your ears bleed, but not too much. They are very temperamental to set right, but once you get there with them, not bad at all!

How do the small speakers compare to tower speakers. I'm curious if the size of the horn makes a difference.
@bengalbyte4344
4 жыл бұрын
It all depends on which tower but in general it will be easier to get a “full” sound out of tower if you are just comparing the satellites and tower with no subwoofer in the mix. I have a pair of somewhat older klipsch reference towers that I use without any sub or center and they are a great stand alone 2.0 system when paired with a Sonos Amp. Those two towers alone won’t keep up with the Reference Theater Pack but that is a 2.0 vs 5.1 setup. If it was 2.0 vs 2.0 the tower would win hands down and I think mainly due to the mid and bass more so than a difference in the upper (at least to my ears). That being said, if I paired those towers with a comparable sub and full size center they would probably blow the compact speakers out of the water as far as presence. The main disadvantage of the tower speakers is they obviously take up more room so you need more floor space, plus it can be harder to convince other household members to have those behemoths out and about. Having both, If I could only have one set up and my budget was lets say less than $500, I would buy the Theater Pack during one of the costco sales or something similar when they are less than $399 to buy. If my budget was higher and floor space/appearances didn’t matter then sure I’d go with some sweet towers.

I slowly upgraded things in my setup and and now have a matching Klipsch Frontstage with the RP-6000F, RP-600C and SPL-150 for my surrounds I use my old JBL northridge e80 and for atmos or back surround i use infinity primus hcs bookshelfs. I want it to roll down so that the TV and the Speakers are behind it but some research showed that I would need a acoustic transparent screen and I can't find one at a reasonable price at 120". I asked the original question because i wanted to get the Klipsch Reference Theater Pack for my Bedroom and use it with my PC but because I got a great deal for a logitech z906 I just bought those for like 120€ and they are fine for what they are getting used. @@bengalbyte4344 Question: I was going to buy a Pioneer 9.2 4k receiver. Is that the right one for this speakers? What about buying this set and the tower speakers? Thanks in advance.
@bengalbyte4344
4 жыл бұрын
Santiago Rivoir without knowing the specific model I would guess the pioneer receiver being a 9.2 will have enough power to drive these no problem. That is probably overkill for this system but the good thing is it would give you the option to expand your set up later if you wanted. You could combine these with tower speakers. If you were to do that then you would probably want to use the towers for the front right and left as those would probably be too much for the rear speakers when mixed with this system. You may also have to play with the balance settings in your receiver to make sure the tower speakers aren’t overpowering the sound and throwing off the surround balance.

That being said it depends on your use case and space. Would I use a soundbar for my home theater, never. Do I use a soundbar in one of my smaller spaces, absolutely. A lot of receivers come with a microphone to help auto balance the output levels. If the center was muddy or dialogue was hard to hear that would drive me nuts. That being said, things can always be another step up, so sure if you upgrade it’ll be better, but for an all in package that now regularly goes for

Yes you need a receiver. Pretty much any one with the feature you want will do. As long as it can lets you set the crossover to 110Hz or idealy 120Hz.

Cuestión!? I’m torn between this & nakamichi sound bar what do you think???
@bengalbyte4344
4 жыл бұрын
Victor Chavez I haven’t tested the Nakamichi sound bar myself so I can’t say for sure. As with any set up, it will partially depend on the size of your room. I have found soundbars in general are great for small to medium size rooms but generally don’t match the quality of a dedicated surround set up (even accounting for sound-bars that include separate reach channels and a sub). Without having heard that particular line of soundbars though I couldn’t tell you how comparable the sound quality is. If the sound bar sounds good to your ears and is more convenient for you then worth considering.

What brackets did you use for these speakers? @Bengal Byte

Charles Wayne I used the Pinpoint AM14 for the center channel and the VideoSecu universal mounts for the other four speakers. Links are in the video description. Thanks for the sub!

thanks for the review, ive been wanting these but afraid they wont fill the room but it looks clear your room used is pretty big would you agree? any chance you know the measurements of the room your using, im very keen on these. i found my yamaha speakers and avr very fatiguing and finally figured it out, on the yamaha avr on screen menu set eq to off and no ear fatigue at all even at loud volume and long listening sessions.

Javier Editz other than the subwoofer, these are not powered speakers, you would need a receiver/amplifier or comparable power source to use them.
