The idea of not letting go of the wrapping yarn is great. I have never thought of that. I am going to try it and see how it works for me. Thanks for the tip.

Your concise micro tips helped me immensely! Not dropping yarn with the rocking motion really helped me. I am a continental knitter, Norwegian style. Your style of English knitting with small movement will really smooth out and help my color work. Thanks!

Georgia that's wonderful this helped you!! I agree, that rocking motion was a game changer when I had used it. So happy it improved your colorwork too!!

this is the way my brain made me learn to knit... i have become comfortable with the working yarn in the left hand for continental but i CANNOT catch the yarn while knitting to save my life!!! i've been knitting the same baby blanket/dishrag since 2010 because i'm set on speed knitting sweaters.

I am a thrower! I never knew it had a name. 😂 I thought I was the only one who did this. I’ve been knitting since I was 7, so I feel quite fast at it now since it’s been 50 years practicing 😂 I’m so glad I saw this video

I had a bit of a hard time watching with your camera flipping around but oh my word! I did what you demonstrated & the result was fantastic! Thank you so much. I absolutely hate continental knitting, it doesn't suit my hands & wrists at all & I really really tried until I thought - this is ridiculous, I'm a thrower and a happy one. Now I'm even faster. Thank you!

Oh my, sorry about the camera movements!! But I'm happy that this was helpful. Yes, you are right....I have found that every knitters hands like what they like and you can't force a thrower to be continental or vice versa if they don't like it!! 🤣

I can do either hand but I only hold the yarn in my right hand for stranded knitting.

As an English thrower who holds my needle lever style under my right arm I do not agree with pivoting the left needle. I'm English taught by my mother and grandmother. There is too much motion going on here with the left needle.

I have my wool round my little finger and over my first finger so my hand never comes off the needle which I think is faster and I always use bamboo needles to help the arthritis in my hands thank you for your advice

How do you weave it back in?
@carolinew4699

I hold my yarn between my index and middle finger and throw/flick around the needle. I don't wrap it around any fingers. Just keeping the yarn between these fingers is enough tension for me.

Why do you lift your right hand to hook the wool round the left needle? That is a waste of energy. Your work remains resting in the crook of your right hand thumb, while the forefinger slides along with the new wool and hooks it over the left stitch. The movement is VERY small and VERY fast, and shouldn't involve ""rocking" and "throwing"!
