When I saw the question I immedaetely had to think of Bob Ross' quote: "Talent is a pursued interest"

OMG the "LESSON ONE" caught me off guard but made me genuinely LAUGH OUT LOUD. omg I died. I love you Keinan, you're so great. These Back to basics are great for anyone, new to digital art or experiences, just as a reminder.

Will you being doing a video in the future that incorporates the effects of reflected light on the "Color Boomerang"? I found this basics lesson VERY helpful but naturally there's always that next step, and I hope you'll be covering it as well.

Art is laughably simple fast and easy! If you know what you're doing that is. And that's why these videos are so great.

Great tutorial. I imagine you could do the same hue shift to darks (purples) from the local reds as you did the light, correct?

Thank you so much . i wanted to ask you, do all the colors follow this rule? like whites, blues, ?
@therealr0bert

I just take the magic wand tool, hold shift, and click everything of an individual color, expand, then create a layer and clipping layer for each color. All of the reds are on one layer, the blues on another etc. Then if there is some overlap, say an arm casting the shadow on the body, and it's difficult to paint I go to the line layer, magic wand the body, go back to the skin layer and paint the shadow.

Wait, is relative color and color boomerang the same thing? how do you mix these two together? Maybe first you use the boomerang to shade things and then add the relative color to blend the character into the background?

One great way to mask internal shapes would be to use the Magnetic Lasso tool. www.photoshopessentials.com/basics/selections/magnetic-lasso-tool/ When you hit Caps lock to change the tool to the circle cursor, you can drag and draw quickly around the internal shapes and it will snap to the inner outline precisely.

I disagree, there IS talent. Some people are born with a better sense of colors, values, observational skills etc.

I went to look for some of your art. I think what you say would hold weight if you were an accomplished artist. It's pretty easy for someone with no skill to say that there's such a thing as talent. It would mean something more if someone who had high skill said it.
