I really love your videos, I cannot express how good they have been for me. I feel I have changed so much in 1 year from just studying your vidoes, I don't earn good money, I wish I could support you on patreon. But I do reccomend you to all my friends who do art, I am sure they have learnt a TON from you! :D THANKS KEINAN!!!!!

Watching these videos has allowed me access to new ideas that I never thought of before. You're such an amazing teacher and within 24 hours I feel like my art is twice as good as it was before. I'm really good at absorbing information, but sometimes the references aren't too specific. You have such a wonderful and simplistic teaching style, as well as an addicting art style! I used to be really upset that I can't do concept-style artwork very well, but you've really helped me push past my mental block of skill and work in a style that I find comforting: comics!~

Hi Kienan, I discovered your tutorials when I was looking for some way to paint metal a few weeks ago. I watched a few of your videos (you made so many videos damn) and I must say, thought I don't always apply all of your tips or like all of your art (I still like many of them but I'm just not an anime guy), there is ALWAYS good information in your videos. They are interessting, well done, full of good advices, you obviously love doing these and you love your community (or you fake well !). There is not many people on youtube matching the quality and regularity of your videos in the art section (you're still top 1 for me in such regards). Thought the videos are quite long (20-30min) I'm never bored, and you always take the time to really explain how things work, when most other channel doing tutorials only show a timelapse whitout further explication and real-time demonstration. Your channel is good stuff, I really enjoy the spirit behind the making of these, and I'll keep watching with interest for a long time (even tho I'm not into anime stuff :p). Thanks for all of this. Non-english native bonus point, you speak fast but clearly in my opinon, so it's great. Sorry if there is bad english here, like I said, I'm no native english speaker.

Kienan, you are such a wonderful teacher, thank you so much for explaining these concepts that have always eluded my understanding and breaking them down in such easy and encouraging ways. That mask and shading technique was so awesome and looks much more efficient than how I've been struggling to both select colors and shade! I just hope I can learn to shade more smoothly, can't wait to get your brushes and try all these amazing techniques out, thank you so much for sharing your process and suggestions!

@Kienan Lafferty Thank you so much for answering my question :) And in this case Mrs ! You really motivated me to work even harder on my craft and not complain too much about my current level, because If you focus too much on complaining "how bad you currently are" you won't progress !

17:40 You can create a selection of your color layers that are clipped to your color mask (the "mask02moka" layer). That way you can have an unclipped lighting layer without losing the ability to draw only ontop of your seperate colors. Just hold ctrl and left-click on the mask layer to create a selection of your color mask. Then hold ctrl+shift+alt and left click on the clipped layer that you want to select. You'll probably also have to subtract the selection of the clipped colors above your selected layer. You can subtract them by holding ctrl+alt and then left-clicking on the layers you want to substract. Sounds more complicated than it actually is.

Hello, Sir Kienan Lafferty! I have known that ambient light first affects the color of the character; however, I do not know how to properly do hue shifts. Do you have any tutorial for that? If not, I'll just study what you said in the video xD

When you're stuck in photoshop and have a ton of layers -- and aren't sure which one you need, hold Control and click on the object you'd like to paint -- and Photoshop will immediately select the object for you -- then just paint on :)
