You may not remember me, but I was the fellow with my wife that geeked out when I saw your booth at the Seattle Comicon. I follow your KZitem show; i`m learning how to better shade my illustrations. Awesome work and a pleasure meeting you both. Thanks for tips on how to setup a booth, maybe at next years Comicon. Hope i didn`t startle you two.

I'm assuming here... I think most people who're frustrated at art are very young. I'm on my early 30s and I'm not frustrated at my art even when I was on hiatus during college years. Even then, I was quite OK with the way my art was going. I guess I started art early in life that I progress slowly over the years, so there's definitely truth in what you are saying, Kienan! Love your happy-go-lucky attitude! Thanks for the tips! I'll participate for the first time on a con artist next month, so the info you gave here is very helpful.

Great advice, I couldn't agree more about your statement about artists providing bags for prints. I've seen so many other artists at conventions just hand over large prints with no bag, and the customer ends up bending it! I usually offer them a free bag for their bagless prints if they are purchasing something from me lol.

KIENAN! You should have an online store for your prints! I'd love to get some of them, but it's super difficult for someone who loves in Europe, for example! 💦💦💦 Please consider it!!

How many copies of each print do you recommend someone brings for their first con? How many different prints should someone bring? I'm trying to find a good quantity to bring so that I don't sell out too quickly and also don't have way too much left over, but I have no idea where to start since I've never been before.

Funny that you say people aren't looking down. I'm doing artist alleys here in Denmark and what I have noticed is that people don't look up! So if you want people to look at your stuff at a danish artist alley, you should also have things laying on the table :) But I guess that different from place to place :p

High gloss is so bad. It's enticing at first, then you realize the shinies make it hard to see the image, and it smudges so bad...

38:00 You can dual (or double) major in software engineering and art of some type. It depends on what type of school you went to, and if you think you can handle the courseload. Typically with double majors, you do twice the work, its like you're earning two separate degrees at the same time, but people do successfully complete both programs. As for dual majors, many times people get complementary majors, like physics and math, or animation and fine art. Many of the classes overlap this way and you earn the degree faster. Not much will overlap in software engineering and say, digital art, but you can definitely talk with a guidance counselor to see what can be done about that.

Do you think having a "monster binder" full of small card sized prints is a good idea to get people to see lots of prints very quickly. You could number each page of the binder and bring a box and potentially sell 360 different prints at your table even though you only have space to display a dozen in full size on the table. It also gives you 360 chances to spike their interest over the 1 minute they spend flipping through the 40 pages of art cards. I'm not sure how much room 360 different prints would take up times 10 prints each, 3600 copies. I look at my sketchbooks that are 100 pages big, I can see it possible to bring 36 sketchbooks in a box or two. 360 different prints would cost a ton of money so you better have a good reason for wanting that many options. I bet if Kienan did like all 135 LoL champions with 2-3 splashes of each with them in alphabetical order in the binder that would be a godly table or should i say "legendary" table. =)
