We put XPEL PPF and ceramic on our new LRMY a month after we got it and am convinced it was money well spent. We use XPEL rinseless car wash. 2 ounce in 2 gal distilled water in a bucket with a bottom grate, a good quality clean mitt and micro fiber drying towel and the car looks perfect.

AP3 has wrapped our second Tesla (this time a Model Y) and they did a great job with the XPEL PPF with the built in ceramic coat. Tiann Krige is great and has built a great business in Atlanta. I'm taking my Model 3 back for a "recoat" (after 4 years) on the ceramic coating next week. Until I talked to Tiann, I didn't know you could get the original ceramic coating refreshed for a very low price! Great video for Kim and a nice looking Model X!

AP3 is a great company down in ATL. After I watched Kim’s original model x get stealth PPF there. I decided to do the same when my S was delivered. I took my model s refresh there same day and picked it up a week later. This was March of this year. I also did a full stealth PPF and XPEL XR plus on all the windows plus windshield and an interior ceramic coating. I can say it’s definitely worth the money for 10 years of peace of mind. It also just looks epic. My S is black. No, I certainly don’t have money to burn, but wanted something different. These cars are expensive. Why not protect your investment. Due to inflation prices of course have gone up on PPF and wraps since my S was done which sucks, but great work AP3 with another gem.

I love what you did there. Very expensive of course but it is a very expensive car so it makes sense to do a full ppf. and the colour is terrific. what I find still so sad is that there is still no functioning ppf for the windscreen because I had a major stone chip within 4 weeks of delivery (i had major ppf wrapping and ceramic coating but that of course did not include the windscreen) and the windscreen needed to be replaced right away.

There isn't an XPEL shop in my area, so I had to go with a different, perhaps inferior, PPF for the front end and hood. But I also did exterior ceramic coating. Total cost for both was $3,083. Phew! No way I could afford more than that -and thus have never tinted the windows. I fear I will always just have to stick with a car's color. Yet now I'm glad my door handles and window trims are chrome…? With this eye-opening yacht, you'll probably turn more heads now than ever before. I'd be one of them!

How many man-hours did this whole process take, and what are the material costs? Just to give someone an idea for why you'd pay $10K for a company to do this versus trying to DIY it. Thanks!
@AP3PaintProtection
Жыл бұрын
Thanks for the question JJ! It took approximately 50 man-hours total. Material costs differ for window tint, vinyl, and PPF, but it’s about an average of 25% of the total cost for materials. Some of my clients tried to do this sort of thing DIY and they ended up as strong advocates for having it done professionally. Take that as you will 😅

Your car looks great with all the added protection. The 10k is a sunk cost that insurance won't cover in the event of a covered accident. I think it is worth it if the vehicle is a show pony, but not if it is a daily driver or grocery getter. There will be road debris that will strike the hood at 70+ mph and it is going to penetrate right through all the ppf and vinyl.

My 370Z has had a 3M ppf on the front bumper and hood since 2009 with 80k miles and a lot of track weekends. There are a few dings in the ppf, but no full penetration of the ppf and no damage to the paint, car still looks great enough to enter car shows. You can absolutely put ppf on a daily driver and expect many years of protection out of it.

Any repaint work is reported to carfax if it’s done by a reputable shop. A complete repaint on a carfax report would severely diminish the value of the vehicle. Plus, if you’ve worked with paint or detailed cars, you know an electro-static bonded factory paint job is priceless and should be preserved at any cost. A repaint is unfortunately never the same.
