Twenty years ago when I was in Tamworth they taught me this dance, and I thought it was neat... But I didn't realize it was like a staple of Australian music culture. I can't believe it's still going strong. Also here in the US nobody does this dance.

I learnt how to do this dance at the age of 14 at my brothers 21st party and now at the age of 61 I saw it again last night at my Nieces wedding reception.. It still gets a crowd dancing anywhere.. So much fun and great memories

At Tina Turner concerts in the US, this was always one of those songs she would throw somewhere in the middle of her set, mainly to cater to really old school fans who recognize it. I wonder if she's ever performed in Australia and knows enough about The Nutbush dance to save Nutbush City Limits for an encore. It would probably drive the audience wild.

Talk about nuts in the bush. I went to a Qld bush wedding once where the best man wore board shorts and a pair of flip flops. That's all. He had to excuse himself in order to fetch the groom from the boozer, something topped later by hammered guests doing this dance in a tropical storm. Aussies have loads of Irish genes, thank fuck.
