Do you have to rip the coat when they reach approx 1 year old, like you do the Bergamasco?

Yes, you split cords when they begin to form plates.

+Schmokk I bathe him every 6 months, the oil from his skin helps protect the cords. He stays relatively clean. Between baths I make sure his face and feet remain clean.

E.L.F !¡ for a full grown Komondor with some lengthy dreads like the one shown in the video it would take hours for their dreads to fully dry from the method she’s using lol there’s actually full body dog hair dryers which would be much much much more efficient to use, those things would dry that dog off within 1 hour for sure, www.amazon.com/Puff-N-Fluff-Dog-Dryer-X-Small/dp/B00JEFV506 that the link to the full body hair dryer

E.L.F !¡ Also Komondors are big dogs and they look even bigger with their dreadlocks without their dreads a Komondor is slightly bigger than a German Shepard, I’d said 2-3 taller and longer and about 15-25 pounds heavier, with their dreads with some good length they’re massive!!! Very bigger than you’d expect, these dogs can most definitely fend off cougars wolves and bears those predators would get a mouthful of hair!!

KND Clan Thank you for the link ! And Komondors certainly look massive. Kinda reminds me of my own dog- he's a small breed but his fur makes him look a little bigger than he really is. Puli dogs are precious- I would love to have one (I think a Kom would be too big hehe), I saw one at a dog show last november it was really cute. Also we actually have a German Shepherd in my family, picturing him with long thick chords like a kom has is pretty funny. He seems so small compared to koms.
