Every time I watch Korean drama shows, they always make me hungry and want to eat noodles, gimbap/kimbap (sushi) or fried chicken. You can also use wings and drumsticks but I like plain thighs meat.
Here is the recipe...I hope you like and share my videos with others. Mahalo!
Korean Fried Chicken
2 lb skinless, boneless chicken thighs cut into large cubes
Dredge flour mixture-
1 1/2 cup flour
1/2 cup cornstarch
1 Tbsp ground red pepper
1 tsp sea salt
1 Tbsp ground ginger
1 Tbsp ground ginger
Oil for deep frying
Sauce
1 cup shoyu
1/2 cup water
1 Tbsp sesame seed oil
1-2 Tbsp sriracha or Tabasco sauce how spicy you like it.
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup green onion (use white part to cook and green parts for garnish)
1 Tbsp toasted sesame seeds (to cook in sauce and garnish)
Heat oil in sauce pan to 350-375 degrees or medium high heat on stove. Dredge raw chicken in flour mixture in a bowl and remove excess flour before deep frying. Cook for 2-3 minutes depends on how big the cubes are. Remove from heat on paper towel. This is the first fry. When all the chicken has been fried for the first time, fry again for 2 minutes or until golden brown. Drain on paper towel.
White chicken is frying, make the sauce in another sauce pan. Cook until green onions wilt and add in cooked chicken. Cover sauce over chicken completely and serve over rice, garnish with green onions (green parts) and sprinkle toasted sesame seeds.
Enjoy!
