Super helpful. It's actually not as hard as it looks. Honestly, I was pretty intimidated by this job - but if you take your time and pay attention - it's not that big of a deal.

man i don't miss that job. Had my valves adjusted during the height of the pandemic, couldn't get the air filter in stock at the time. I ended up having to redo that whole process just to change the air filter. The fuel disconnect is the worst part of the whole process, what a PITA!

Having done it dozens of times, the roughly 15 minute job doesn’t bother me. When you’re taking about the fuel line, mean the one from the fuel pump to the throttle bodies? If so, be sure to put a dab grease on the o-ring. Will make like a lot easier next time you have to disconnect it.

Might be a good idea to remove the “inner” side covers too. The tank really bends the plastic. Mine have broke and hearing a lot of others have as well. The parts are on back order wherever you can buy factory OEM as well.

Great video as always. Had to take off the tank to get to the wiring for my Scottoiler, your video made it straightforward, although it took me a bit more than 15 minutes! Thank you.

I will be removing the tank this weekend, to cable tie to the frame, a Garmin Zumo GPS wiring to a Hex EZCAN that is under the seat.

My mechanic broke the side "fang" inside fairing when putting my tank back in, I was ANXIOUS with fear when you bent the same piece when installing the tank back. Hehe. Now I have a taped piece while the replacement is underway 😅

Interesting, they did the same on mine, but glued together back, without of course mentioning it to me.

Can I ask you something ? When mounting the tank, I see that you mount the left hose on the right, does this eliminate the left hose? I mean the hoses at the fuel cap on the left and right, or drain hoses whatever you want to call

Helpful video, as always! I noticed you installed a rotweiller filter, did you also tune the bike or it can work with stock setup?

Here's a question the internet doesn't know and has nothing to do with the tank. Where the heck is the TPMS receiver? It's a small black plastic square held in place with 2 bolts and an electrical connecter.... Trying to see if my simultaneous front and rear tpms issues are the result of a bad receiver... Already changed out batteries and got them to work but they quickly loose connection... just like astro project yourself through the parts of the bike and give me your best guess at where this thing might be....

Can we just remove the right side? Or left one at a time?

Is this the same procedure for a 2015 1290 super Advantire? I just bought it today, and the previous owner had the fuel pump recall just done, and the o ring on the tank fuel in let as well i believe. The ting spells like fuel bad when you get on the gas. I am reading tis is normal for these bikes? I really hope nit. It's enough to make me concerned.

Great video! I have a question: do you know in this bike (or in yours) where is the front ABS sensor wire plug? I have to change it in my bike (1290 Super Adventure R), and I'm not sure if it is under the airbox or under the headlight. Thanks a lot!

Not entirely sure on the front; gonna have to trace it. The rear is right under the rider sear.

What a pain. I’m keeping my Super Teneré.. how do you do this maintainance with fuel tanks extending to both lower sides ..? How much a dealer might charge for this work if you aren’t handy !! 🙄🙄 No offence to KTM fans, but it’s a pain to work on this bikes..!!

You remove the tank, which as I said, takes me about 15 minutes. As for maintenance (I've worked on the Super Tenere's as well), when it comes to valve checks/adjustments the KTM you don't have to drain the oil (tho admittedly, you're typically doing an oil change at the valve check interval), remove the clutch cover or remove the throttle bodies like you do on the Yamaha. There's pros and cons of working on any bike.

Based on the limited information I have to go on, it’s likely your fuel pump priming.
