That was a little harsh for a sentence when there are people out here who have did more and gotten less time. What I don't understand is someone with promise and opportunity how could you blow it?? Even celebrities do the same thing - blow it and then blame the media and public for your demise. I don't believe he is sorry - yet. He will be though, with time.

28 years is a little high, but not by much. They might not have stuck it to him quite this badly if he hadn't acted like he couldn't be touched after getting into trouble. I think the same thing happened to Rod Blagojevich. Instead of laying low when he got in trouble Rod went on Celebrity Apprentice. If Kwame was 31 years old when he took office this was probably not a good thing. I don't know too many 31 year-olds that have enough balance to be mayor of a major city.

ABSOLUTELY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It very sad to see and hear someone like you talking about this and not knowing the facts. Now you are giving your oppressors credit for freeing you after you've served him for 400 years. You are a victim of Stockholm syndrome. ...when the victim begins to apologize and feel sorry for the perpetrator. This is what many black people are suffering from. When the slave master was sick....the slave would say: "we sick master?' Secondly, you wrote in one of your last narratives "OMFG"....I can imagine what that means...."Oh my F-----g GOD"! Now tell me this....what kind of person would take the Lord's name in vain like that except for someone who doesn't know anything and one that needs prayer and guidance. Do you know that is not honoring God to use a curse word in the same paragraph with God's holy name? You are supposed to use his name with reverence....but you have no reverence and you have no knowledge. You are just a mouth piece sounding in the wind and you open your mouth just to hear yourself talk because you don't know anything. Especially not to use the Lord's name in vain... Shame on you! You are worst than Kwame Kilpatrick. I've never heard him take the Lord's name in vain, but you think you are better than him. ....NOT SO! The scriptures state: "Those who take the Lord's name in vain will not be guitless."

One question to african americans. Why is it that I was raised in america and english is my second language compared to most black who have been here for centuries, yet I can speak and write in proper english? Is it just reckless abandonment to education or maybe you have low standars? Just by reading your grammar is like reading african bush lingo.

@ybwnews1262
10 жыл бұрын
Feelthefx Come on.....! what point? The city was already corrupt and the little corruption that Kwame did, did not corrupt an already corrupt city, country and nation! He was following the trend that had already been set before him. The city is still running! People are still eating. They are not starving. I'm not saying what Kwame did was right . . .but look at the trend in government. They cheat the people EVERY DAY and come up with ways to legitimize it. What about the robbing that congressmen do to citizens, like repealing Obamacare, fighting to end unemployment extensions, fighting to prevent raising the minimum wage. These are the real criminals! This is what Jesus meant when he said: "He who is without sin, cast the first stone". All of the leaders are with sin. It's the ugly game of politics! Now suddenly we are going to make an example of Kwame? What did he do? Had a party, passed some money to a friend contractor? It's been done before and being done in the very present time as we speak! 28 years is cruel and unusual punishment. That is retaliation and people ought to be upset.

Zarata Scott So has rape been done before; so has murder been done before; so has grand theft been done before! So it's OK if he does it too? So innocent little 'Kwame' was just following a trend? In other words, he felt justified in robbing people blind the same as his predecessors? And that ridiculous crack about 'let those who are without sin......' etc. So he should just be given a couple of years? HE ASKED FOR IT! HE BEGGED FOR IT! Why are you defending him? 'The city is still running'??? O M G !!!!!!!!! He 'had a party', 'passed' money to a friend contractor'. Maybe you're a crook too and that's why it seems so pointless to you to throw this pig in the slammer. Please.
@ybwnews1262
10 жыл бұрын
Bonnie McCoy Hi Bonnie! No I'm not a crook, I'm a minister! Maybe you should do a little more reading of the word. I'm sure you are familiar with the biblical example of the woman who was caught committing adultery. How did Jesus respond? What about the men who she committed adultery with? No one accused them? No one wanted to stone them to death? Why? It was because of "self righteousness"! The sin that everyone hides behind....even the judge who condemned Kwame to 28 years. No one is without sin! Yes, what he did was wrong! Yes, he should have been smarter, but Jesus exposed the sin in the very people who condemned this woman. How and did he do this? Jesus put his own "sinless" life up to their transparent, so called self righteous lives and he was able to expose their hypocrisy and what really lied within their hearts. In other words, Jesus took their lives and put them on display, just as one would take a sealed letter and put it up to a light and when the light shines through the letter and one is able to reveal the content of the seal letter. In other words, Jesus exposed their sinful nature of just wanting to hate on another, and condemn another thinking they are better. The sin of "self righteousness" is a far worst sin than what Kwame Kilpatrick did. Kwame needs redemption like many others. Probably yourself too! Kwame needs to be forgiven and "go and sin no more" as the great teacher Jesus replied! Punish him, but not with cruel and unusual punishment like 28 years! It doesn't fit the crime! Do you realize the government steals from the people of this country everyday and they get away with it! Check out what Douglas Burnett said: "Kwame Kilpatrick should have taken some notes from the Bush Administration. They were the Kings of political corruption and did not even get questioned." What about all the theft that was done to Black people in slavery and after slavery? An entire nation of people were robbed and as of today no one has received forty acres and a mule. Has any of the criminals who did this went to jail for 28 years? No! Not one of them. Do you think it was fair for Nelson Mandela to serve 28 years in jail? Do you think that was cruel and unusual punishment? Of course it was? There's a lot to learn!
