I see these flights all the time while driving on the BQE, I495, and I 678. I sometimes look at Flightradar24 to see where they're coming from. That approach was right on the money.

From the sound of the altitude callout, I would say the ground effect of the flare out was just "how you do that"! Beautifully done, gentlemen.👍 I make sure to give recognition to the flight crew when I have flown.

The approach starts out along LGA225 (VOR or ILS RWY4) to cross JFK317 (DIALS) at 2500MSL or above (4:25), then right heading 085 along the LIE to overfly the Parkway interchange (5:45), then left turn to final. NOTE: This path is based on charts published for AIRAC 1302 (Jan 10 to Feb 7, 2013).

And the late 2000s at about the time American announced buying US airways I was on a small twin prop plane flown by Piedmont airlines which was part of that group suddenly. This small plane carrying I think only about 20 passengers was flying in from Philadelphia and as a result flu at low altitude the entire way. The approach to LaGuardia was spectacular because the plane was going at less than half the speed that a typical jet would be going at and a very very low altitude even when it started to come ashore. From my seat on the left side of the plane looking out the window I watched the entire skyline of Manhattan approach together with statue of liberty. Then the plane followed the western shore of Queens going parallel with the Manhattan skyline right at the edge of the river Hudson. And it did all this at a fraction of the height that we see in this video. as we passed the skyline all of the skyline was at a higher height than the plane was. To see the skyline of Manhattan a plane traveling alongside it at such a low altitude and such a slow-speed mint that was a long long time of taking in that site it did not just pass by quickly like what happened with typical airliners. and so then it landed with the runway at LaGuardia that runs parallel to the Hudson River. That was my introduction to New York and it was in nice brightly-lit sunshiny day and was just awesome. Even in movies I don't think I've ever seen the skyline pass by like that. So remember if there is a twin-prop plane not a jet having a flight from Philadelphia to laguardia take that over a egular Boeing or Airbus especially if it's a sunny bright day and you will not be sorry.

As you were able to use LNAV/VNAV is this visual approach in your FMS as a selectable approach?
@sammesservy4443
7 жыл бұрын
No, there is no expressway visual rwy 31 approach in the FMC. The pilots fly the approach using the runway 4 localizer. At a certain point/landmark they make a right turn which roughly follows the expressway (hents the name). They then make a left base turn for a short final on runway 31.
