It's funny how many classic novelty songs have "sequels" like this that barely anyone's heard of. Existential Blues Pt Too? (an entirely different style of song), It's Alive (one of many sequels to Monster Mash, this one featuring the original character's son as a 1980s-style mad scientist in the vein of Weird Science - you can somehow *hear* the large hair), I'm Happy They Took You Away and They're Coming To Get Me Again, Ha-Haaa! (the first by Napoleon's XIV's wife Josephine XV, the second by Napoleon XIV himself many years later), Dis-Gorilla (a Disco Duck retread), Round the World with the Rubber Duck (C.W. McCall's Convoy), and many more.

The 7th Cavalry was not wiped out at the Little Big Horn. That is one of the great myths of history. Most of the troopers survived. Only the five companies with Custer were wiped out. The last surviving member of the regiment who was at the battle died in 1951. The Italian bugler who delivered Custer's message to Benteen to "come quick" died in 1922 after being hit by a car near his home in Brooklyn. He had a job a the Navy Yard at the time of his death, and before that he worked for the NYC subway, selling tickets.

@@michaelschramm1064 Philbrick is a terrific writer, I always enjoy his books. His description of the battle is excellent. However...there are a number of inaccuracies in his book, and he does some very subjective psychoanalysis, especially of Custer. James Donovan's A Terrible Glory is also a great read, and has fewer inaccuracies, so it's a good one to read after Philbrick. But for real, there are more books written about this little battle than any other except the Battle of Gettysburg, and that lasted three days and involved several hundred thousand men.

My father had both in his collection. Sadly, he traded his entire collection of 45s back in the late '70's for a pittance. Edit: Incidentally, both 45's had the centers punched out for jukebox use and we played them with the adaptor insert.
