The big battle droid from the fourth mission (?) was basically my arch nemesis during childhood. I never could kill it or finish that mission. What a killer game tho. This was one of the games I sunk the most hours in. Part of the fun was figuring out how everything works since for some reason I didn't have the manual for this game. I was even more excited to learn later that the creator of xcom, another one of my faves, and this game was the same guy. Top fiver for me.

X-Com was my 'go-to' game when I got a next generation console... these turn based strategy games were some of my favourite genre titles. If you have the patience to invest time into the world's. Even the original 'Fallout' was one of my best games of all time. That and 'Jagged Alliance' 😇🕹👌

LASER SQUAD is one of the best space stragety games, i have ever played on my Amiga 500 back in the 1990's. The Commodore 64 version of this game looks even more brilliant 😺👍🕹️. The other game, i have played from Blade, is LORDS OF CHAOS. I had it for my Amiga 500 back in the 1990's. Definitely magnificent 😺👍🕹️! This video deserves a big retrospective like 👍🕹️ from Vantaa, Finland 🇫🇮.

"Laser Burn" is 1980 tabletop wargame, influencing directly Jullian Gollop's games, but also Games Workshop's board wargames. So, Laser Squad and Space Crusade seem to come from the same old progenitor. Gollop was allso affiliated with GW, did few video games for the company.

I love this game. I remember that ten years old me was discussing our strategy with my friend to kill Sterner Regnix (I think this was the name of the enemy boss on the first level). We passed the first few levels, but never the last two. X-com was also one of my favourites and immidiately found out during playing X-com that the gameplay is based on Laser Squad.

we lived in the eastern block, and i never had amiga, but got my c64 in '92. i have played with my c64 for years, i mean.. years. to '99 (at the end not so often, everyone has PC already, but me). This game was one of my favorite. btw i cannot call any of them as THE favorite. Thanks for remembering. There was some interesting yet: OMEGA (tank arena scripting game), Stunt car Racer, Elite, Supremacy (damn!...), Giana Sisters, Oil Imperium, Lords of Midnight, Street rod, Pirates ..

The C64 is definitely a timeless computer - I still play it regularly now, the games are simpler and more engaging than the modern types. They didn't hold you hand and it was just yourself, a scoreboard, a couple of lives and a great imagination - those games on your list are superb too, the ones I've not covered yet I've written down on a list to do on future videos 😇🕹👌 stay retro

To be honest. And i mean real honest, as an all-time-gamer-myselft. C64 games aged badly unfortunatelly. I turn back to them time to time, in sake of fun and nostalgia, but cannot enjoy them that much. Great to see them, hear them, feel them, but cannot enjoy the gameplay for long. It's surprising, but my 2 sons (8, 10) love to play old 8bit games just as much as the very new games. Maybe my demands are too high, so its on me.

Some games I'd get super excited for whenever I saw them in the magazines, but the majority of the time they were full priced games so we couldn't afford them. Thats where my brother came in and handed me a turbo load type game stacked with loads of clasics haha. Good times 😇🕹️👌

XCOM: Enemy Within from 2013 with the Long War mod is a blast. The mod changes the base game immensely and adds an impressive amount of gameplay depth and difficulty to the tactical as well as the stategic layer. I'd agree that without the mod the game is very much way too shallow.
