First word - foot position during time of injury
Pronation - abduction, eversion, and dorsiflexion of foot, stretched deltoid ligaments
Supination - adduction, inversion, and plantarflexion, stretched lateral ligaments
Second word - movement of the talus. Inversion, eversion, lateral rotation
Pronation External Rotation - start at medial malleolus and progress in a clockwise manner due to lateral rotation of talus
PER 1 - medial mal avulsion fracture, tear of deltoid lig, or both.
PER 2 - anterior inferior tibiofibular ligament. Ligament tear, tilleux-chaput fracture, Wagstaff fracture.
PER 3 - Denis Weber C, maisonneuve fracture
PER 4 - posterior inferior tibiofibular lig. Ligament tear, Volkman’s fracture
Pronation Abduction - eversion of the talus
PAB 1 - same as PER 1
PAB 2 - AITFL and PITFL simultaneoulsy, Volkman’s fracture
PAB 3 - butterfly fracture. Denis Weber B
Supination External Rotation - talus rotates laterally
SER 1 - same potential injuries as PER 2
SER 2 - oblique fibular fracture, Denis Weber B
SER 3 - same potential injuries as PER 4
SER 4 - same potential injuries as PER 1
Supination Adduction - inversion of talus
SAD 1 - transverse lateral mal fracture, Denis Weber A
SAD 2 - vertical, intra-articular fracture of medial mal
