Sometimes less is more . I think it looks better without the valance . However you did an outstanding job on the laundry room !

It looks great! Don't downplay it and say it serves "zero purpose" if that was really the case, we wouldn't have finished walls or anything in our homes that didn't serve an actual function. The purpose is to be aesthetically pleasing and make you enjoy being in the space. We can all survive in unfinished rooms with no paint or flooring but we don't want to and that's why we spend money and time to make them into a HOME. I think you did a great job turning this spot of your house into a part of your home, whether it's doing laundry or using the washroom, its now a room that anyone using it will feel welcome in! You have done a great job in fixing up the overlooked room of your home! I am sure if the boys have friends over or you have guests who use that washroom that you won't be embarrassed and they won't feel uncomfortable either! I absolutely LOVE how you make everything into HOME.

I like it just plain with the curtains. I wouldn’t do the berries or the baskets. What you want is to not notice that wall so much and you’ve done that. Baskets would accent it and catch dust. Just my opinion.

Since the window over the washer and dryer doesn't add light to your room, why not put a cool picture or sign over it. It would be easy to remove if you need too.

Looking really good! Have you considered making a C shaped half wall on wheels to use around the toilet? That way you could block the toilet from view and wheel the wall to the side when needed. You could even put a toilet paper holder on the back side of the wall.

I really like your valance fabric. Here's a thought. Could you just cut sections that cover the openings? Between the curtain panels. Presuming you never intend to close the curtains. Then you'd have plenty leftover if you decide to cover the other window above the laundry equipment. Then the black curtain rod isn't visible.

I follow you all the time I love your house we are in the process of trying to buy a house we live in a condo and I hate it. We are looking at older homes (bungalow style) 1890's to 1930's. This is going to be a process for us because when I had to leave work due to a spinal injury I was not able to return, well you know how hard it is to go down to just one paycheck. My long-term disability has paid out and I now get SS, so that is a help we have a ton of medical bills to get paid off. Long and short everything you do to your house looks great it's an older home with tons and tons of character. My taste it has it all over the new houses they build today. You are such an inspiration to me Sophia I feel like we are good friends. Great job on the laundry room, I went back and watched episode one to look at the before and after. Thanks again, ps Coco the pup says woof woof!

Hey Sophia, you are doing a great job on the laundry basement? Why don’t you use the lace from your mother in two parts so that you do have it 'under' your curtains? that is very farmhouse stylish! and you could just staple it along the head end of your wooden frame .... btw I have an insta page with farmhouse style interior ideas, my.lovely.interior.items love from me to you 😘👍🏼🍀

Love your videos. You are so creative, resourceful and productive. You need to get your family to help though, make those boys work for their supper lol! They and their future families will be grateful for good workers with valuable skills. I wanted to tell you you could still do a “valence” with the lace piece. You cut it in half, hot glue it to the middle of the rod and cover the ends with the curtains. You have lovely decorating ideas and since I have family that has passed on that came from France I especially enjoy your stories. My best to you.

Looks great, Sophia! I actually love the valance and you would have enough if you cut it in half and placed one in each window between the panels. Make a rod pocket on the tops of the valance fabric to put the rod through. Then finish the side hems. So you would have panel, valance, panel over one window and panel valance, panel over the other. I had a custom drapery workroom and that's my two cents.

Wow good job with the floor and covering on your appliances. What a lot of work on the windows. Wouldn't the spackle just have filled mthe gap covering the expanded foam around the windows? Would it not have sanded down and painted? Please don't add any more stuff. It's a work area. Nothing you do to the area will hide the open ceiling. I do think that your idea to screen the toilet is good. Perhaps a roller blind fixed to the ceiling? It could be retracted when you're working in the room . I admire your energy and your incredible DIY skills.

You can do an applique of your lace on the valance with the same fabric used in the curtains making it almost like you would a quilt square, then you can separate the lace and have it go onto equally spaced parts of the valance if you choose to still use the lace.
