Coffee, alcohol, tea, nicotine, prescription medicines & illicit substances are all drugs, you could even put fast food & candies on that list because of its addictive nature. I challenge anyone to find someone who has not partaken in any of those things. Usually lawmakers who frown on someone who smokes a bit of weed are themselves partaking in alcoholic consumption or prescription meds on a regular basis sometimes even cocaine. I don't understand how he uses certain criteria to not give credibility to Depp's witnesses but then ignores them to full-on believe Amber's. Yes Depp's were mostly his own employee's but there were also people who were entirely dependent on him or didn't work for him anymore, and he had ao many witnesses, surely all of them wouldn't be giving a similar version Amber? Ambers witnesses were her friends and her sister, people who were very close to her personally, people who used to live in Johnny's penthouses rent-free. How can the judge take their word for it 'because they said it under oath' while calling JD's witnesses unreliable even though they too gave their testimony 'under oath'? Also, why didn't he take the word of trained DV police officers who stated that AH had no injuries on her even though AH claimed she did? And the voice recordings...it's just all so frustrating.

I think so too. It really doesn't make sense as it differs from what we usually assume abuse looks like. I might be incorrect but I remember her saying he abused her for being bi and isolating her from friends. But on the other hand, it's a fact, that he let her friends live in a penthouse. Which really doesn't seem like a thing abuser would do. Plus the only person who has lasting visible scars is Depp (burn on the cheek, the severed finger). I mean by her description of those instances, logically she would have more than a few scratches on her arm.

Same. I think the point is to believe someone insofar as it involves removing them from the alleged abuser to keep them safe and start hearing everyone out. To take the allegation seriously enough to hear it out. And if you can't have a trial, yknow, if some girl in your apartment building tells you some dude on the 2nd floor assaulted her you keep your guard up. You make sure to check in with her if you see him talking to her or something. That is the kind of thing I think of, because so many women are abused or assaulted by people they can't actually take to court. Reporting some of these things is so traumatic and doesn't pay off. So I do believe most victims I speak to in that regard. But there's a measure of trust with people who tell you personally. But this whole public thing requires a standard of proof and credibility, and none of us know them in person so we can't really do much but hear out the evidence. I'm so annoyed by this case to be honest because I can already tell it's going to make allegations a lot harder to come forward with. But here's hoping it at least pays off in raising awareness that men aren't only abusers in these situations, and women can be abusive. I know an abusive woman who keeps getting excuses made for her because she's a woman even when she scarred me emotionally for life so. Yeah, minimizing female abusers is a problem too. But it's sad that these two causes had to be elevated by a trash person making victims look sus.

I did so like many others, but I'm not sure you did. Judges make mistakes or worse....The judge didn't believe the many impartial witnesses on JD's side, even the police who were experts in DV!! The sentence is full of supositions, such as how he injured his finger...all very dodgy....And btw the judge's son works for Murdock.... The whole Sun trial seemed a bit lopsided hm (assuming that alcohol/drugs make someone an actual abuser is just that assuming, among the other things concerning the judge and verdict), thankfully JD's team will be able to show in the ongoing less lopsided case soon enough. Meanwhile, JD gets a big win as Dior stands beside him keeping him in their Sauvage commercial and many showing their support with their dollar. While those who have chosen to drop him will soon see it may not have been the best decision. Along with the over a million signatures against the self-proclaimed physical/verbal abuser AH as JD explains (in one of the audio's) how he'd walk away and not engage (doesn't sound like something a WB would do not even once) and JP did this constantly and it really bothered AH as she wanted him to get into these verbal fights with her @.@ Can't wait for all of it to come out for everyone to hear. The biggest problem with narcissistic abuse is that the real abuser walks away with everyone on his or her side and the real victim walks away with a smeared reputation because they REACTED to the real abuse. I'm a woman who was the victim of narcissistic abuse so I recognize it! Johnny was the victim of narcissistic abuse. This needs to be psychologically investigated - the proof is there!!! I live in the U.S. and the law only considers hard facts, that's why he lost. She wanted fame and money, both of which she obtained via this relationship.

And also wrong. I mean fundamentally the judge was in the wrong, and as more and more evidence comes out, it is increasingly apparent. Also, what he doesn't say in his writeup is he chose to ignore independent third party witnesses (mainly the police) when it contradicted AH's narrative. That is not being impartial. People say there was a conflict of interest, but it could just be the judge was biased from the start, and had already made up his mind on what had happened before the trial even began. The judge did a horrible job and ignored a plethora of evidence that pointed to AH as the abuser not the victim, and just accepted her and her friends words as truth, even when it was directly contradicted by police testimony.

Could you please explain the reasoning for the judge ignoring the testimony of 2 police officers and a nurse, I believe he said that the police officers didn't document the case and the nurse didn't closely examine her. But in both cases, it's their job the nurse saw no need for further examination and the police officers testified that they saw no damage, none. These are as unaffliated third party experts as they could get and the judge dismissed their testimony, while believing amber and her friends. I would've been fine with the ruling had their testimonies affected it, but the judge dismissed even that. Also her donating her divorce money wasn't an act of good will on her part, it was a condition in their divorce settlement.
@REDinitial

Just want to say on the last part she never proved to have donated the settlement. About 2 years ago there was a donation made to an LA hospital in her name which fell under the bracket of 1mil to 5 mil donations. So, at best she donated 5 mil, at worst 1 mil. The rest of the money are unaccounted for.

About the UK Verdict: The defendant was a publication. So the burden was only to prove that the evidence gave them enough of a reason to believe that it was sufficiently true to publish the article. This doesn’t mean Amber was telling the truth and Johnny was lying…it means that Amber gave enough “evidence” that it is reasonable that the publisher would believe the allegations to be true enough, after doing a small amount of investigation and verification. The publisher isn’t held to the same exact standard as Amber was held in the US. In other words, they don’t have to prove beyond a reasonable doubt that Amber was telling the truth via trial by jury/ trial by judge prior to publishing the article…they don’t have to prove she is innocent of defamation prior to publishing the article, and what the judge summarily said in the UK was it is likely true enough information for them to reasonably believe it worthy of being published…not the same thing as proving that Ambers allegations are unequivocally true and factual.

Look, I know this is a big case with A LOT of information, but I have to be disappointed by the lack of research as the reading of the judge's ruling was not accompanied by the evidence provided. In no way am I saying that everyone has to reach my conclusion, but I don't see how one can analyse the ruling without checking the evidence and doing some background research first. This way you could avoid such a blunder as saying there were no third party witnesses with no affiliation to JD or that AH has donated her entire 7 million divorce settlement when no proof of this has ever been produced. Just because the judge takes this at face value doesn't make it right, Emily, I expect more from my law facts queen.

Nicol contradicts the ‘blackout excuse’ by saying ‘JD only hit when no-one else was present. Hmm, actually the etymology is actually defens, in both English and French. In Latin defensus.

@@sara_387 Yes, if you want to take it that far back, the Latin defensio (not defensus!) is derived from defendere (defen-do, defen-di, fensum) (to defend). In French is "défense". And yes, I might have hastily miswritten - instead of "derived from" I should've said "connected to". However, the point stands - if you write defence with an "s", then you should also write fence with an "s" - fense, to be consistant. That said, try to be a bit understanding - English is not my mother tongue, nor even my second language, however I did have an English lady - secondary school (years 10+) English teacher - tutor me for years (thanks to my parents for that), and I remember her making a point of that. Also, I remember her warning me not to write "should of", "could of" (instead of should've/have)... "because only poor...ly educated people do that" - she didn't have to tell me twice and I've never slipped up 😅.

Come to think of it I sort of get the decision. The judge thought she donated the money. Why fake being a victim if you don't take the money. So is Waldman in the UK appealing saying Hey look she lied this was a huge factor in the judges decision plus his son works for the sun

If hearing what was to be done with the prize swayed his decision: then he made a completely illogical decision. - As we've all seen; it meant absolutely nothing. - Suprising that a judge would be so stupid.

As someone who has gone through some traumatic stuff, I would expect to see someone who was abused think they fully remember an event only to find out there’s actually large chunks of it missing. Our brain puts traumatic memories behind trauma (amnesia) walls. This is a sign of PTSD. Yes he has a drug problem. Could it be the drugs? Maybe. Is it just as likely to be a natural bodily reaction to abuse? Absolutely.

I can't sleep after this one (i saw live and I finished listening to this at 2 am, now it's 6am). I want You all to know domestic violence it's terrible despite gender. But Polish goverment is planing to withdraw from an international treaty on combating violence -The Istanbul Convention. This convention is the first instrument in Europe to set legally binding standards to combat gender-based violence. It calls for action to fight violence against women, together with prevention, protection and prosecution measures. Conservative forces in Poland, both inside and outside the government, are stepping up efforts to reject the 2011 Council of Europe Convention on combating violence and potentially replace it with another treaty that seeks to boost the rights of ‘traditional families’ at the expense of woman and sexual minorities.

Um...there should not be special laws for women when it comes to domestics violence. Men can be victims too. For that matter, from what I have heard, women are more likely to be abusers when it comes to child abuse. there should be no gender based laws as it creates an inequality where one gender is treated unfairly while the other gains relative benefits.

That’s not quite right (beginning summary) - she said she was *going* to donate the full sum to charity- *but she didn’t*. If you look into the partial payments that have been made to charity, the first one was from JD in AH’s name intended to be the first of regular instalments, the rest of which would come from her, the second was from an anonymous donor in AH’s name. (Thought to be EM). She hasn’t even donated $100k, let alone the millions promised. It looks like she may have pocketed it. Promising to donate was also one of the reasons JD lost in court. Judge said there “was no financial motive” for AH to lie. But.... where’s the millions then? This whole thing is disgusting.

The point in finding JD guilty was so that the next man up to bat (EM) would not be labeled a homewrecker. How does it go, 'money talks and something or other walks.'

IKR. This is something. Now I have to watch every minute of this playlist to see the transformation.. I only started to follow when Amber testified the first time, and that was on legal bytes channel, then NickR and Emily's after the drama.. so I've only seen the Emily that knows all the facts.. I expect a fun ride. 😁
