I miss those more "stylish" midcentury classic vintage 1950's to 1960's sloan flushometers, but this 1 isn't so bad looking either. But, the most important theme is its functional.

Woah whats the name of that tool you used to unscrew the handle? Looks way more handy then a ford wrench
@thurstoncj1

It’s a Sloan wrench. Sloan A50 is the part number I believe.

Dumb question but this happened to me yesterday... I rebuilt 2 identical 1.6 GPF units but one of them still leaked from a couple places afterward. Does the hardware itself eventually go bad to where the entire unit has to be replaced? Or is that not very common?

I personally haven't had to replace any hardware on the Sloan's that I've had to service. I have noticed sometimes If I don't clean out all of the disintegrated rubber particulate from the threads/seals it might leak a little and I'll have to take it apart and thoroughly wash all of the parts to make sure everything is seated properly. Also, double check that the black cone is pressed down snuggly on the white plastic threaded piece.

@@MPCfacilities Ok gotcha. So maybe take a small wire brush to all the threads would be a good idea on every rebuild job?

@@shadetreewannabe It definitely wouldn't hurt. Or even just a nylon brush like a toothbrush or something to be sure there isn't anything in the way.
