I really love the Standalone Push, but man it's big. It's not even backpack-able. I know it's wishful thinking, but boy I'd like a mini version, with half the pads, rounder corners, etc. :)

Let's hope the upgrade kits get better, over time. I realize its all proprietary for the Push and there is a lot of dev behind it, but it would be nice to see faster CPUs with more cores and more ram options, that can stay cool, in a NUC - in a Push. Let's also hope that battery technology continues to improve. While I wouldn't mind sitting on the couch and working on a cool idea, I also don't mind just being connected to Ableton and using it as a controller. Being a systems admin, watching this is sort of my nerdy fun. LOL

@@dpalaoro Yes, sort of - inside the NUC unit. You get a custom Push NUC, an SSD, a battery, and a heatsink, as listed on their site. I've already seen videos where people are DIY'ing the SSD to a bigger one and copying over the files, from the existing one, but that's a lot more in-depth.

Why not design a removable panel over the compute unit so that the heat sink is in direct contact with it?

Can you buy third party upgrade kits or is gonna be all Ableton?
@Ableton

The upgrade kit is sold by us on our webshop. If you open your Push and use components made by a 3rd party, you will void your warranty.

@@JerryCrow Pretty awesome, if you don't expect it to be full Live experience without the computer - it's pretty limited in that way, but I hope it will get better over time. Also, there are bugs and some weird or arbitrary design choices (e.g. when jog wheel's tilt works and when it doesn't). But I'm happy with it as an idea / sketch pad. I never expected more :)

$1049 is an utterly disgusting price for a few hundred dollars worth of laptop pc parts. We're talking a 300%-400% markup here and I cannot support a company who's baseless greed is laid so bare.

A company needs to be profitable to conduct R&D and develop new products. Don't forget the software side, UI/UX, of the standalone mode and all the R&D that went through to allow a smooth, fluid, and integrated user experience in the end. I see the same debate over OP-1 Field. Quality design and research have a cost! If you don't want to pay it , do it yourself ;)

I'm not planning to go DAWlesss anytime soon but since you asked...R&D? It's literally an Intel NUC that's stuck to the back of a mid controller that already existed. Parts Supply? You must be delusional. The parts cost 250 retail and even that figure is generous. It's fascinating seeing people like you stick up for companies like you owe them something.

@@papatoni3311 and that‘s why they‘re obliged to do it for 350 more? Btw the price was already down to 600. See what Moog or Waldorf are asking for their flagships, do you think they had much higher R&D cost? I‘m glad that in your world the software development is free of charge, especially for a device that runs it own specified OS with highly time dependent tasks!
