As with all things in life, you always are sure you will have the time to do all the things your heart desires. I love Tom Petty and always thought I would see him “sometime”. I only got to see Tom Petty once and that was in 2015 when my hubby and I took our teenaged son & daughter. We had amazing floor tickets and my kids were just blown away with Tom and they knew all his songs as they grew up listening to classic rock. I wish I could've seen him at least one more time before he passed - I bawled the day he died as I felt like I had lost a friend...

Saw Tom Petty 1980ish in Austin, Texas at the Armadillo World Headquarters. If you never had the privilege, all concerts at the Armadillo were so affordable at that time because everyone came to Austin on their first tour and you could stand right up front by the stage and see the musicians up close, which was incredible. Tom Petty and the ❤breakers were magnificent from the start. I love the song “Refugee” and they played it , of course, because it was their big hit at the time. Pretty sure they came back through Austin not long after and I got to see Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers again. RIP dear Tom. You are loved by so so many. Thank you for all that you gave this world. ❤💙🌸🌷🌼🌺🌹🌻💐🪷🦋🧚♂️🍀⭐️🌊🏵️🎸🎸🎸🎹🥁💽💿📀💘💘💘☮️

I was Tom's neighbor back in the early 2000s. Super Kool dude. I was bringing in my garbage containers in one afternoon when I saw him walking his dog and he said, "Where's Chase? When this concert was recorded, I was with my wife in Gainesville, she was undergoing a bone marrow transplant at Shands. At the time of this concert I didn't even hear anything about it, we were so caught up in the game of living or dying. It wasn't until just a few years ago that I ran across it. I only mentioned it to my wife a few days ago. When I told her about how we had missed this concert She kicked me in the shin HARD. We should have gone she yelled at me. I reminded her she was quite sick at the time, to which she replied I would have gotten well a lot sooner had I known Tom Petty was playing just a few blocks away. Obviously she beat her AML.

Almost every time we ask our Facebook communities for songs that have helped them through depression or a particularly hard time in life, someone brings up Tom Petty. No, music can’t cure a mental anguish or make hard times go away, but it certainly can help guide us through or at least provide moments of comfort. For many, Petty did this. As one friend put it, “He is the only musician I have ever listened to that made me feel like he was singing about my life.”

It is damn near impossible to play guitar with a set of wings. The feathers muffle the strings and it's hard to "feather" a chord and have it sound decent. Holding on to a pick is very difficult as well and it usually ends up on the floor and then you have to start playing "feather style guitar".

I’m still learning to fly, and I won’t back down. Up until 11 years ago, I always flew in my dreams, from the time I was about 18 months old, I dreamt of flying. I used to have such lucid dreams, I want them back. I want to fly again…❤
